When/Why did your original H22 POP?!
93 H22A1-114k miles-----Detonation due to nitrous, blew a hole between sleeves.
^^The format I'd like to see^^
Spun Bearing?
Broken Rod?
Cracked Ring Lands?
Broken wrist pin?
Broken Crank?
93-96=H22A1
97=50mm H22A4
98-01=55mm H22A4
Not trying to leave the Euro/Asian crowd out, I am just interested in USDM motors.

mine has yet to blow..it was about 160k on it.. my other motor "blew" at the track but it still runs. it just missfires really really bad.. if i can get the damn crank bolt off i could get the head off and start to look in to it more.. as of right now my rear main is leaking so that will be fixed soon.

Re: When/Why did your original H22 POP?!
Yeah, my H23 spun a bearing then snapped the crank at 181K, and the jdm H22A I swapped in was going strong when I pulled it for the H23VTEC I built. Without knowledge of that h22A, I added 29K miles on it, and last time I checked compression, it was all very even.

93 h22a1 120k miles- pistons rings let go
was at the track giving it all she can made a good pass at 14.05 not really pushing it hard. went down the track again and poof there she went. when I finally got the head off the ringlands were cracked on 3 of the 4 pistons and number 3 cylinder was all scratched up completely. thats what happens when you try to push oem piston rings oh well. I learned and went bigger.
Well for me I dont post so much in the prelude forum because I havent been able to hit the track. I would post if something has changed. Also what I notice is that alot of us are facebook and any remarks we place them in there.

^^???
4th gen H23 125K running e85 Neptune'd stock internals still going strong (yeah I know its not an h22). And with regard to the forum, I try to post up tech whenever I do something. Just got done with the Progress rear sway bar install last night, took some pics so I'll post that up in the next couple days(home-made custom end-links FTW).

Thx.
I have witnessed simply too much in my 13yrs in the car business to comment. :ziplip: although usually NOT on purpose. Still.......
Thanks though guys. This is the kind of info I wanted to see. Happy to see some people post their current miles too.

97 lude SH 190k
The motor was out when I got it but it was obviously cylinder wear/rings. Bearings looked good for that many miles haha.

*inherits stupid crown*
fwiw, motor's been rebuilt and has been running strong for over 8k, just a few loose ends to tie up

Re: When/Why did your original H22 POP?!
i recently purchase a 1997 prelude SH, second or maybe the third owner drive it for less than two months and spun the rod. the miles on the odo reads 211k, now in search for a replacement motor. thinking about k24 but i was just too much work, so not i am going for a h22a type S motor.

Re: When/Why did your original H22 POP?!
97 SH - 160k-ish miles; blew headgasket at 140k and eventually burnt up an exhaust valve at 160k
My own fault; I installed an electric water pump and didn't drill a hole in the t-stat like I was supposed to. Didn't believe my temp gauge when it was pegged at the top while on the freeway until the car shut down. Oops. Installed a new dizzy and it ran for another 20k before burning up the exhaust valve. Swapped a new head on and I'm still on the road (for now).
Speaking of stealerships, I swear the local Subaru dealership messed up my wife's WRX. Took them an Exedy clutch to install along with a t-belt change; they left the MAF sensor unplugged, the clutch felt like crap (and I'm convinced the clutch play is still set incorrectly) and the A/C stopped working after being at their shop when it worked flawlessly previously.

Yeah, I've been whining about the "Halp, my ****'s broken" theads for years now. That's why I hardly ever post anymore.
I'm surprised that Prelude Power's got as many nice cars and builds over there. I'm a little embarassed to make a thread about my shitbox Prelude over there. People have nicer builds and prettier cars than mine.

98 h22a4 55 shot dry from 120,000 blew gasket at 188,000 miles. this was in 2004
Blown a few H series since then, but thats all on me. sometimes its hard for me to be responsible with n2o. I could never get more than 8k miles on any stock internal build. all of which were non DD and the shot was 110.

Re: When/Why did your original H22 POP?!
h22a1 with 170k spraying a 75shot.....number one piston i belive detonated badly and swisted rod/destroyed valves and the cyclinder walls..all other cyclinders showded detonation signs and horrid carbon build up...it was a missed shift from 3rd at redline down too 2nd instead of up too 4th on the shot...the tranny was never the same after that lol

Re: When/Why did your original H22 POP?!
97 h22a4 blew at 138000 due to buying the car with it's timing off, which eventually went pow. decided to go with f20b after about a year of downtime, to try and change that luck with my first h22a4, so far so good
