b18 vw gti
Did this for a friend of mine. Only had to notch the chassis for the crank pulley and trans case.I found that DA integra wheel bearings were the same OD as the golf ones so I was able to use them and press the honda hub in the VW knuckle. This allowed me to use stock DA axles. A EF clutch cable even worked perfect with the vw pedal, so I just used the cable conversion kit form hasport and a set of their DC mounts too. I basically did all the fab work and he is going to wire and plumb it now. Future plans are a rod, piston, turbo build making all this worth it. Cheap tuning and a strong stock gearbox, fixing the two fails of vw's. I guess the B series is a decent engine too......

Re: b18 vw gti
damn, should have kept my tdi engine/trans.
ALH TDI in a civic hb would be killer. I bet 70-80mpg would be possible with reliable 170hp and 300 ft lbs in a 2000lb car.

VW Fan reporting in.
You guys will be waiting a long time for fanboy hate. A link to this thread has been posted on a couple of forums I frequent now. I signed up specifically to say awesome work to the OP. Looks amazing!
There is cheap tuning for VWs too... but you are so right about strong stock parts. I love seeing custom work like this. Can't wait to see the videos when it's done.

I was just talking to my girl about doing this swap the other day. i like the look of the vw hatchy, but the drive train sucks. So the hubs pressed right in and the stock da axles fit perfect? any mods needed to get those hubs working? one more question, what did you do for the rear mount? Big thumbs up, the welds on the motor mount brackets look top notch

Hey guys... i just joined cause i was sent this link. Im a huge VW guy i have two well build VW one of which is fast (yes a fast VW)
I really like this build. I think its really cool putting the two together. I always wanted to build an EK and throw a 1.8t in there from a GTI.
can we get more pictures of the whole car?

Wut? Then don't do such nice work.
Or get a big aluminum spoiler and a 7" exhaust. I'm sure that'll net ya some drama.
By the way...
+1 on seeing it at the meet, but you underestimate VW owners. a lot of us are all for nice work, and anyone who owns a VW knows the weak points. You don't have to be a honda fanboy to appreciate work like this.

Re: b18 vw gti
The irony I frequently work on Honda's and VW's and have a corrado shell and a turbo B series set up sitting here and I was thinking the same thing as the OP...awesome motor for making good power, easy to work on...wiring is simple. Nice work on this project...if time and money allows I may be right behind you lol.
