Project: First world Civic powered by Subaru

Re: Project: First world Civic powered by Subaru
What i have on that is a lot of wasted time, energy, and money. The chassis has now lost the rigidity it had on the WRX, it didn't gain any power from this frankenstein body swap, and at the end of the day, you're still driving an old honda civic, not a WRX.
OP: i think its cool all of the work you put into it, and im glad youre proud of it, but you would have spent less money on a GC style WRX swap with a newer bodystyle car with more options, a lighter chassis, and an overall nicer car.

Normally, I would say its still a honda...
with
Shitty econobox brakes, Shitty econobox suspension, Shitty econobox interior, etc etc.
But its not... and that is AWESOME
just one ?. why all this for a DD?...
for 5300 you could have bought an sc300 or something luxury and still have 2g left over for a kick *** stereo and ****.
im glad you did it... i love the honda look and most honda engines, i just hate everything else honda does. So to see a subaru chassis with a honda shell = WIN
again mad props... I am amazed at your body fab skills

What type of suspension does the Subaru have that makes it so great?

Although I saw this around when you posted it, I'm just getting now to commenting on it. Nice job. Glad to see some unique stuff. Impressed by the bodywork btw considering all that needed to be done. This thread has made its away around several Subaru forums a good bit too.

i think your m0ms fitment is kinda off .
dude this guy made this can you even think of what to start with to build one ?
why do people comment on this dumb *** stuff im 99% sure that he knows its off
you need to keep bolting on you parts ok and keep your absolutely lameass comments to yourself i had to request a password reset just to tell you this ok.
fitment is off in your head man
and this is so sweet i hope to see it at the luskville dragway this summer
peace yo have fun !

First of all it isn't any faster than a stock WRX since it is a wrx with a honda shell, he has steel fenders, a rollcage(sorta), and all the reinforcements he had to weld.
Also he won't be able to launch the car hard because it has a STOCK WRX TRANNY. They break easily when launching.
And one last thing is IT IS NOT A SLEEPER WITH A HOODSCOOP!
So there you go little Honda lovers!
By the way, I'm not bashing the OP, cuz I admit it does take skill to build this, but it is just so stupid to do this.

Well Scoobie.. A couple things.. First, It will be faster than a stock WRX because it is lighter than a stock WRX..
Secondly.. You dont know what you are talking about.. At all.. So you should do a little bit of STFU..
The WRX 5 speeds aren't the strongest, but they wont automatically break when you launch either.. If you dont know how the Eff to drive, sure you can nuke it pretty easily...
For reference.. I have a FULL WEIGHT 2005 Sportwagon that traps mid 119's with et's in the high 11's ON THE STOCK 5 SPEED. WITH a 6 puck cerametalic hard core clutch on a lightweight flywheel..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvjOX09NqpY
Currently makes 409 WHP.
Look me up on NASIOC..
To the OP! Im not a HONDUH fan, only joined to shoot down an ignorant Subaru comment.. But nice work!!! A+++ for sleeper status..
If you duplicated my setup you could probably nail mid 11 second passes no sweat!

So that particular civic had a suspension setup for MAXIMUM manufacturing cheapness.. Crap trailing arm rig...
That subaru has a double wishbone up front with a very sophisticated multi-link out back..
Its like comparing an Ox cart to a Ferrari..
If ONLY HONDA BOYZZZZ would freaking do a little research / EDUCATE themselves before they speak the world would be a better place.

Does Subaru use double wishbone up front?

Re: Project: First world Civic powered by Subaru
every honda/acura except the NSX has **** suspension stock.... even the ridgeline.
just look at the geometry, the wheel hop, look at the cheaply made parts, lack of adjustment, needing new bushings every 20k miles, etc etc.
a kia rio has more to it then most honda's
Subaru is setup to run rough *** dirt roads for 100k miles with no problems

Re: Project: First world Civic powered by Subaru
I have to be honest with you: I think the way you've handled the haters and people trying to take away from your project is not only courteous but downright classy. You very easily could've retaliated the bashing (Lord knows, I would have), but somebody clearly raised you well. If I needed work done or had a project and lived near you, I absolutely wouldn't hesitate to put down my hard-earned money to support you or your father's business. It's obvious that you a) know how to treat people, and b) value customer service, even when you're not even servicing a customer. That's something you just can't teach some of these "businesses". So thank you.

Re: Project: First world Civic powered by Subaru
Seriously, I think Civics have better suspension than any other compacts. At least the ones we have, I don't know much about the new ones.
