Sheet metal brake and big fuel cell
I had a customer as for a 30 gallon fuel cell to use to fill his boat so came up with this. First i had to make a sheet metal brake strong enough to bend .120 aluminum sheet, here is what i came up with after looking at other home made brakes. It worked pretty good i must say, anything under 16in long it bends very well got a tough doing the 30in bend.
sorry for the blurriness

Re: Sheet metal brake and big fuel cell
I dont have any actual plans i took a lot of time looking at other peoples home made brakes, and made some changes to suit my needs a bit. Most are only rated for 18ga steel if that, so i used some heavy 1/4in angle and 3/8in gussets to prevent as much flexing as possible. The hinge was a grade 8 bolt used as the pin while the steel that pivots on it is all 5/8in. It has worked great on 1/8in aluminum as long as it was shorter than 18in long. A couple bends on that fuel cell were 30in long and the clamping bar was flexing some, but nonetheless it worked.
More projects to come soon on that thing.
here is a basic one with a how to with it.
