Definately not impossible. If anyone can do it on the 24.5 I think its Felix. And come on dont lose motivation. GL to everyone else trying to do it on the 24.5 as well.

Re: Forget 8s on 26's whose going for the 24.5 record
I really encourage alot of racers to stick with the 24.5/25" slick. Not that I dont like the Outlaw style cars, but the line between the 2 types are so thin that many are thinking that 26" should be the norm now adays.
There's going to be some things that should help the SFWD cars get deeper into the 9s without a 26" tire. New products that help in gearing and traction should make a difference without sinking in more money to switch a car to run 26s.

I've been talking about it with some people I think a 24.5 shootout would be alot of fun, I'm planning to leave my car on 24.5's and compete at the shootout in SLC

Why should there be a 24.5 shootout? Thats already the basic SFWD/BOTI Turbo Street, CMI classes. They are all pretty much the same.

My car Is the same set up from SFWD , now for the shout out i remove the exhaust and convert it to water to air. I so no different, i think it will go the same with air to air and the exhaust . The SFWD record is 9.33 held at an NHRA event if you want to call it that .
Not that it matters anything .

would you agree or disagree that with the hype around the shootout last year at Etown and everyone shooting for 8's with all the bounties that everyone pushed there cars alot harder? I dont think you see that kind of thing at CMI or BOTI events just my opinion

I run my car just as hard at the Outlaw race as I do at local IFO races. I think you'll find that any of the guys running similar times do the same. There are a handful of guys that are in the same boat as me at least.
When these cars are right, you can run them all out w/o concern of blowing stuff up, so why not?

if your not going to run your car hard, why run it. i think that you have a higher posibility of breaking stuff that way. most of the guys breaking everything and doing weird things with tire pressure or trying to leave too low of rpm etc etc. it ends up doing more harm than good.

Re: Forget 8s on 26's whose going for the 24.5 record
I was shooting for it for a while, but its a lot harder then I had thought.. The only reason I stopped was to start getting my car ready for 26s for the Utah Race. and the fact that its now 105 degrees here lol
I was under the impression the record was tied between tony1 and felix. tony1 with 9.27@167 and Felix with 9.27@162, but I guess I was off on felix's time.
I also consider it to be a 2500lb sfwd "style" car. I wish i only weighed 2500 lol

I wished I had the time and money to run with you guys on 24.5 or bigger slicks. Since I do not at this point in my life, Ill sit back and watch/read you all talking about it.

I know that I won a bunch of races just taking it easy....... I only started to run my car hard near the end of the year. I always knew what it could run.

Re: Forget 8s on 26's whose going for the 24.5 record
its all about track prep. hell here in south FL, PBIR & ORLANDO we dont ever get good track prep. it can rain all morning before an event & they wont even spray the track to help with traction waist of their $$$. some of u remember orlando like 3 years ago when it poured all morning then we finally go back to racing then the sun came out the track sucked ***. no prep= no records

I think SFWD is dead! Also I dont think air to water is considered SFWD so tell Gato to go back to air to air and do that!
Just funny how some people make their own category!
Do it on sfwd trim no air to water and 24.5's and you got my respect!
AMEN!
T1 went 8's Air to Air
