Default What is this???!!,

I have a chattering, squealing, grinding noise coming from my drivers side wheel, I've checked the dust shield, brakes, rotor and axle and I can't seem to find the problem it's only happening when there's a load applied I can spin it while it's jacked up and I don't hear anything. Help please

Did you check for up/down and side to side play to make sure no steering or suspension components are loose? Also is the car lowered or anything like that that could cause the tire to rub?

No the car isn't lowered and I know I need upper ballpoints that on the way and I have the lower balljoints, I just replaced the tie-rod and tie-rod end and the boots, but the noise is still there sounds like metal on metal

If the pads have life left and are installed properly as well as the caliper bracket clips, and the backing plate is clear I'm unsure of what could be left. Upper ballpoints can cause a clunk or squeak but that'd typically be over bumps or while turning. I'm making the assumption it's a higher pitch noise rather than a wheel bearing howl?

The brakes have life on both sides, and yea it's a high pitch noise I'm not sure what it is, I'm gonna have to remove the caliper tomorrow and check the pins, to be honest I've never been this lost this is a first for me

I hate chasing noises like that. I can't see the guide pins causing a noise like that though

The first link wouldn't work on my iPad but in the second one when you turn the wheel that sounds like the upper balljoint. As frustrating as it can be I wouldn't recommend throwing parts at it, it even more frustrating when the same symptoms occur but now your wallet is empty

At first I was thinking about the diff but I hear it only on the drivers side not around the trans, and when the car is raised and I spin the wheel I don't hear anything

Check the caliper bracket shims, they make noises like that if they're off center just enough to contact the rotor or if one of the side clips that hold them in place gets bent and contacts the rotor, which may not be noticeable until everything flexes when the car is on the ground

Also the trans/diff would get louder as speed increased and from my experience usually make a lower pitch sound than what I can hear in the vid

While you're at it it wouldn't hurt to clean the rust off the caliper bracket and the clips and relubricate them along with the guide pins.

It could be your rear brake pads. May seem funny, did you try driving and open your door a little?

Sometimes are ears have a way of deceiving us. I just had this problem it was actually coming from the rear pads they we're shot. I thought it was the front until I found nothing wrong, and drove with the door open and realized it was the back driver side brakes! Hope this helps.

While the car is up in the air secure on jack stands, put it in neutral and spin the wheel and see if you hear/feel the roughness.
