Hmm okay
But a few of us have done this. I actually feel that its a design problem.
Honda could easily have installed a lock out like they have in first gear.
Anyway.. Symptoms would be running on like two cylanders, car stalling,
smoking, generally running like ashit.

Re: Signs of bent valves?? (8400RPMS)
replace those valves before one of them breaks and creates a nasty mess. if they are bent enough there will be stress fractures which will not like high rpms, detonation or high cylinder pressures at all.
ive bent 16 ferrea valves before so i fel your pain. shifting at 9500 into 2nd gear from 3rd gear does wonders. my car died and when i took the head off some of the valves were snapped in half.

when it died, could u star tit up again and have a good idle?? my idle is all funny and if i rev it and let off, it dies. right after this happened, my car wouldnt idle at all, then i clean up a couple spark plugs and it starts up hard but would idle. im not driving it right now til i get the head pull and see whats wrong. did u break anything else besides the valveS? any tips on pulling the head? i wanna do it myself w/ a couple of friends. dont wanna pay sumbody to do it, already tight on money.

Do a leak down test also if you can. So far I would bet you bent some valves by looking at your compression numbers and what mentioned earlier. If your lucky you just have bent valves, if your not your pistons will be damaged also. Dont feel to bad I did the same thing last week, I wasnt so lucky. Bent all of the exhaust valves and damaged all 4 pistons. At least I have something to do this winter

Re: (Skunk2nR)
Bent valves (ticking noise from engine, occassional stall, rough idle...all symptoms.)
Go to c-speedracing.com for any instructions you need on the removal of the head, adjustment of the valves or pretty much anything else needed.

Re: Signs of bent valves?? (h22poweredgsr)
If you want to get specific whether or not its intake or exhaust valve are bent...when you do the compression test put your hand over the throttle body if you feel air coming out its an intake valve same goes for the exhuast out the tail pipe....good luck and lets hope its not coming from both sides

Re: (h22poweredgsr)
i will tell you how to rmove the head:
set motor at tdc (not required)
take intake off
take exhaust manifold off
take off all sensors from head, intakake manifold, distibutor
take off all coolant hoses
take off valve cover
take off cam caps or whatever is on them based on your head
take out cams
take timing belt off cams.
undo head studs in right order. use a LONG bar. (find a diagram somewhere)
take head off
takes no more than 90 minutes with two people who want to get it done

definately hook yourself up with a manuel. you'll need it down the road aswell.
