15" wheels vs. 16" wheels, for eg civic?
OK, this seems like its got to have been covered a hundred times before,
but its kinda hard to do a search cuz 15 16 and vs are all words that are too short to search for!! haha.
so anyways,
What would you all say are the pros and cons of 15" wheels vs 16" wheels.
I'd like to know about performance also. Would you say the lower profile tire of a 16" wheel is a good or bad thing?
of course weight is an issue also, but is it a big enough issue?
16's do look pretty good.
Any specific wheel examples would be great also.
right now i'm looking at these in 16
but my last wheels were 15" 12.4lbs and these are 16" 16lbs.
anyways, any thoughts, other cool wheels and whatever info you want to drop, would be great!
thanks

oh no doubt, I agree with that fully,
but no matter how much of my own person I am, I am still always very curious to hear everyone elses thoughts and opinions.
Might not make my mind up on what i'm going to buy based on what ppl say,
but I defientely want to know what ppl think.
also makes a good topic for conversation imo

16s look better than 15s
15s perform better than 16s
its a tradeoff, whichever makes u happy, go for it : )
if i had an eg, i'd probly go 15s if it was a hatch cuz it'd have a lightweight theme goin for it and 16s for the coupe or sedan

Re: (Tad)
depends on the tire... but generally, there will be less sidewall flex in the 40 series on the 16". Although, I had 15" Si wheels, I loved the way they looked and handled, I'm soo in love with the GSR blades. They're alittle heavier than the current Rota's and 5Zigens. But it's all about preference, I had the OE wheels for the ease of balancing the wheels.

15's are better for tores choices/prices.
Looks are a subjective thing.
I like 16's because of their look and the low profile of the tire. I don't track my car every day. But my 16's weigh about 10 lbs.

If its a hatch, 16s look a little to big for my tastes..but thats just me. The 15s will provide better acceleration, and depending on the tire choice, will also handle better (say a tire w/ a stiff sidewall). Plus they are cheaper too.

I had some 16" C8s and then I switched to the 99 gsr blades. I think with some better tires that I will be pleased with the blades.

One nice thing about 16s through is that you can get 16x7. There aren't a lot of 15x7 wheels out there.

i just ordered my 16" bronze rota c10's..i'm gonna go w/ a 205/45/16 tire. i think 16's look better, but 15'a are great for performance...i race every now and then, but not really hardcore,so i decided to sell my heavy as 17's and get some nice 16's i like 15's and 16' though....i got my 16's for $465 shipped...which is only $15 more that 15's so i said why not.

Do your 16" rims affect your acceleration and how about on the freeway. I have some damm heavy 17" that slow my ride and use more gas. Is the tire rotation longer even though your rims are light weight. I knew this would happen but what do think of 16" wheels.
i have some car seats in the back and all i hear, "daddy go faster!"

It's not so much the wheel size, but overall wheel/tire diameter that you have to worry about here.
I think if you're going to buy new aftermarket wheels, you should get 16's. If you don't want to pay for them, get used or stock 15's.

Re: (civic_type_r)
My steering wheel felt lighter (even lighter then with the slips on it). And my car felt a good deal quicker.
I honestly believe my 16's made a positive difference over stock or 12 pound 15's.
