Re: Speedometer and Odometer NOT WORKING!!
I've been encountering the same problem kind of my rpms will drop like I let off the gas, but I didnt. I havent fixed this problem yet but I replaced the VSS an that wasnt the problem. I think my speedo wraped around the whole way so I will have to take it out an see if I can unwhined it or something. Hope it didnt burn up the motor in there or something

Take the cluster out and see if the four screws that the hold the gauge to the body have come lose. Those screws also give the connection to the gauge. Hope that helps.

Mine did this and it was a wire issue in between the VSS and the Speed/odometer. Last owner swapped wires (makes me think he cut them to lower miles on the car -_-)

Re: Speedometer and Odometer NOT WORKING!!
We figured it out. It was not VSS and wiring. Everything is working well. So we took the VSS out of tranny and look into the hole. We found out that its missing speedo gear in the transmission…

Having same non working issue. I put a '98 d16y7 in my '96 HX, but running a '96 ex 5 speed. The VSS installed was already in the tranny. dunno if broken or just the wrong one for the '98 y7 ecu

Re: Speedometer and Odometer NOT WORKING!!
it easy to find out if your VSS working or not.
1. take the VSS out but leave the plug in
2. start the car
3. have someone watch your speedometer while you spin the gear with your hand.
4. If speedometer moving so that means its working good.
