F23 to H22 swap

F23 to H22 swap
i just did this swap not a few weeks ago in my 99 Acura CL...very technical to say the least but fun...i did alot of research on here to figure out what i needed to be ready for and found out alot of nothing to be honest....
here r a few need to know details if anyone needs them, and feel free to ask questions if i dont include something you need.
as far as motor mounts go only one needs to be modified is the driverside mount. you have to use the h22 mount and it is too wide to fit so the mounting bracket needs to be stretched or the mount itself needs to be ground down a slight bit.other than that it will drop right in..the h22 sits back alot further so it is really close to the fire wall so make sure your coolant lines and what not r in place before completely putting the motor in.
i used the F23 tranny because the H22 came from an automatic car...the tranny bolts right up..used the f23 flywheel and a F23 clutch...but the H22 clutch will work as long as u have the right alignment tool.
the wiring needs a little fixing...nothing major just a few plugs needs to be lengthened...the dizzy plug is one of them...the IAC is another...the F23 IAC is a 3 wire plug, but the H22 is a 2 wire plug. All you have to do there is ground the black (ground) and attach the other two wires from the 2 wire H22 plug. i think there was one or two more not sure but you will see when doing the swap.
not here is the fun part.. THE DIZZY...you will notice that you F23 dizzy is an internal coil, and the H22 is an external coil...well he is what you do...you will have to modify the dizzy for it to fit an internal coil in it not a big deal just about 20 minutes with a dremil tool....i know this sounds crazy but saves alot of heart ache...use the factory F23 dizzy wiring inside the H22 dizzy, and as far as the cap and the coil go..use the cap and coil from a 1991 CRX SI.. yea it sounds dumb but it works promise. so in the end it will be a H22 dizzy, shaft, and button, F23 wiring, and 1991 CRX SI cap and coil.
also you will have to swap throttle cables...the factory cable is too long....
only thing my car does not have is cruise control...still has AC and PS.
let me know if any of this was help full

Re: F23 to H22 swap
And yes it will be basically the same.
OP, have you driven it much since the swap completion? I'm just curious how the H22a operates with the longer gears and haven't heard much real-world experience.

Re: F23 to H22 swap
i am still running the F23 ECU and it runs it fine only big issue is the rev limiter is still at 6300 instead of the 7500 the H22 can rev to, and it is dumping just a little to much fuel.
I drive the car everyday... it is my DD...the f23 trans to me is an amazing setup with the H22....especially on long trips cruisin at 75 or 80 in 5th gear just barely under 3000 rpms.

Re: F23 to H22 swap
youll need a new ecu header down pipe intake change yor driverside mount and maybe a bit of changes to your distributor. its defenitely a decently hard swap i believe

Re: F23 to H22 swap
hello everyone . I have a 2000 honda accord with h22a4 swap. just got it done
couple days ago but emission won't pass till i fix my iacv .
the accord ex has a 3wire plug connector (yellow and black/blue & black/black) this are the 3 wire colors for the iacv plug, But the h22 iacv only has two wire plug connector. so i don't know what do i need to make this work.
does anyone knw the diagram (WIRING AND ECU) for this please???
i really need to get this fixed cus my car runs like crap.
thanks

Re: F23 to H22 swap
Unless you swapped that F23b in there I believe you mean F23a1 or F23a5 (depending on trim level).
And yes it will be basically the same.
