Nineteen Ninety Three

Re: Nineteen Ninety Three
Yours looks like it's in awesome shape.
Friend of mine had one of those about 15 years ago, teal color though.
He put it up for sale (to get a 95 civic si - lol) and it was stolen.
It was cool, but in all honesty *and I don't mean any disrespect because I acknowledge how rare these are* it didn't really deserve the "Cobra" badge. Didn't have much of an edge over a 5.0 GT if I'm not mistaken...

Differences between the Cobra and the GT/LX:
- Cylinder heads: Cobra came with GT-40 high flow cast iron heads.
- Intake manifold: Cobra came with an intake manifold which was "unique" to the Cobra. Lower manifold is identical to the GT-40 manifold used by Ford racing.
- Different camshafts
- Larger injectors (24 lb/hr)
- Larger MAF meter
- Smaller crankshaft pulley
- Smaller water pump pulley
- Exhaust - tuned mufflers which were less restrictive
- T5 transmission with custom 1st through 3rd gearing
- Tokico shocks and struts valved specifically for the Cobra
- Different taillights
- Different bumpers
- Etc, etc.
- The Cobras were only offered in three colors: Red, teal, black
- 5100 ever produced. 107 of which were the hard to obtain Cobra R. (You had to prove that you were going to use the car for its intended purpose before Ford would even sell it to you... a la Ferrari Enzo).
- Mine is 4,059 of 4,993 made.

More on the R:
It featured larger brakes, Koni shocks and struts, an engine oil cooler, a power steering cooler, and a factory rear seat delete. Since the Cobra "R" was race oriented, options such as air conditioning and a stereo system were not offered. Each of the 107 produced were offered in Vibrant Red only.

No, i've never driven both in any way to compare performance. I read all that on wiki after I posted; just an opinion, please don't take offense. I owned a 86. My friend had a 89 and that 93 cobra. I got a 95 del sol and started spanking him at autocrosses which is what prompted him to get the si. What really sucks is that it was stolen and most likely chopped in Detroit.
How many black ones did they make? (presuming that's the original paint)

Damn that's really nice. Those cars have a timeless look to them. There is a low mileage silver notchback on Ebay right now that I've been drooling over. These fox bodies were all the rage when I was in high school.
