Ball joints? 98 Accords!
Who is the manufacturer and distributor for the Honda OEM ball joints for 1998 honda accord 2dr coupe 3.0L? I found some Moog ball joints at O'reilly for $40/ea... are they good? I want to stick to OEM parts, not happy with the quality of aftermarket stuff. There's also Duralast at Autozone.
Any recommendations?

i'd go with the moog brand i hate duralast....duralast brand always fail from the brakes, to the spark plug wires, to the ball joints!

Looks like the Moog's come with lifetime warranty, been around for over 36 years and chosen in NASCAR championships? Might be a better choice over OEM perhaps.

But it comes with a lifetime warranty, so you just keep getting new ones. I was at autozone last night, and a guy was asking about the lifetime warranty conditions. He was saying how pep boys would try to find ways to not honor the warranty. Then the autozone employee tried to convince the guy that they will swap out the warrantied parts for any reason. The only downside is that you have to keep replacing the parts.

Only if I could do my own ball joints the lifetime warranty would be helpful, the labor cost is higher then the damn part.

I didn't lower my car :'(
My Honda mechanic just told me that you can only replace ball joints once on hondas after the first time the knuckle has to be replaced if it breaks again. Is that true? This guy has been a Honda/Acura mechanic for 15 years or so, and now he has his own private shop.

I've owned 2 accords in 8 years, put about 350 000km on them (250k on my 01 coupe), replaced balljoints at least 2-3 times on each (paved roads here in Quebec usually feel like offroad trails with gynormagargantuan potholes, they take their toll on those poor balljoints), and never had issues with the knuckles.
In the factory manual they need to be replaced only if they are deformed, cracked, if the balljoint bore presents irregularities, and so on. Replacing them only because you changed balljoints twice sounds like a scam, sorry.

Not yet, I'm going to buy the Moog brand from AutoZone and get it installed by my mechanic hopefully this Saturday.

Re: Ball joints? 98 Accords!
skunk 2 balljoints.. no..
and why do u have to replace ur balljoints already i have a 97 honda accord ex coupe... still factory balljoints on it.. u dont have to replace them if they dont look right to u...
did u check them? are they knocking or making noise... do u kno how to check if they are bad?
are u dukes of hazarding everywhere u drive...
when ppl give solutions u gotta look at the problems on whats causing it or see if it needs to be fixed.. "find the cause and solution" "identify the problem"

wheel bearings are another thing u might wanna look into investing...i might replace my entire front end with all new bushings, bearings, ball joints, struts, and maybe axles cuz i have a rough rough ride from the previous owner slamming it all the way on the ground like a ***....i had to raise it back up and set it right and still rides like **** on the front end!

Anyways, I found the theory about replacing the knucle after 1st ball joint replacement, it's only with OEM crappy ball joints, not aftermarket ones. So buy Moog and avoid crappy OEM crap.

yeah i use to be a mechanic at pepboys and they do find any way to screw you out of the warranty. if you want moog (which i would go with) and dont want the warranty hassle, go to advance auto parts. they are knowledgable and easy to work with
