No Mass Air Flow sensor ?
Hi,
I bought my 1988 Honda CRX Dx from a guy who put in it a 1991-92 Civic 1.5L engine. I looked every where but I can not find the MAF sensor anywhere. Is there suppose to be one in the 1988 CRX?
Thanks,

Re: No Mass Air Flow sensor ?
no they really dont have a MAF, they has a IAT sensor for the Intake Air Temp. but that is it.
why is it you are even looking for a MAF to begin with? what problem are you having? DETAILS mean you get a better faster response

Re: No Mass Air Flow sensor ?
This is correct, although cryptic.
There is not a MAF in any of the older hondas.
Honda used a manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP) in all their cars until recently. The map sensor reads the pressure in the manifold and matches up with a rpm reading to perform fuel table lookups. Here is a reference on it in case you want to read up..

Re: No Mass Air Flow sensor ?
lol Well i figured that the guy wanted to know how to meter airflow, so i would have never said MAP to begin with.
MAF's just slow things down. Too bad that Nissans and DSM's had to come with them. Made the tuning capabilities suffer cause of them.

Re: No Mass Air Flow sensor ?
Thanks guys for answering the question. There is nothing wrong with the car I was just going to put in a cool air intake, so i could not find the sensor all my other cars have one, could not find one on this car. I bought the car off of a guy who did a engine swap, from the amateur wiring done through out the car I thought maybe he missed something. thanks for clearing this up.
