Default getting water out of engine

Alright, I managed to stall my car out in some heavy rain last night. There is water in the comb. chambers. I did not try to restart it, and left it parked in the neighborhood it stalled in. I went back today and took spark plugs out and cranked it over to see if everything was still moving. Luckily, it all moves fine, no abnormal sounds. So, my questions:

What do I need to do to make sure everything dries out and works again? I know I need to get the water out, but any sugg. on how to do so? I could take the head off, but I was hoping there was an easier way. I would let it sit and let it just dry out, but it is F'ing freezing here, and I dont think it is going to dry before it freezes.

I also know I need to change the oil, but that can wait until I get it started and to the shop to do that, right?

Dont let it sit there and let it dry out. Are you kidding me?? It will rust up man. You need to remove spark plugs and just keep cranking until water shoots out of there. I had my 1.8t hydrolocked and i had water in the oil pan as well. Try that after to remove excess water.

the starter wont spin the engine fast enough to shoot the water out. I was thinking of maybe putting some Heet or other water remover down the spark plug holes, but I am not sure that would work.

Stick a hose in it and suck it out. Then get som paper towels to get it as dry as possible. Use the crank pulley and turn it so that the cylinder you are drying out is a tdc. Just get as much water out as possible. remember water will not compress.

sorry, but duh, thats the problem.

I did think about using a hose, but I dont think that is going to be that good for me to suck in all the crap thats in there. bump for some more ideas

Well my solution is have it towed to your house and figure out a way to fix it there, inside your garage. It will probably involve draining your oil and cranking the water out of the cylinders.

Or you can have it towed to a mechanics garage and have them do it. I don't see any easy way out of this, you will most likely NOT be driving it home from where it stalled and I suggest you don't try.

actually, I think I might have a solution. It involves some duct tape and ghetto rigging, and a Shop Vac. I will suck the water out of the spark plug holes, and crank it for a few minutes to try and get the remainder out. Then, if all goes well, I think I can drive it home and take it to the shop tomorrow to change the oil. Wish me luck guys.

Unplug the injectors, pull all the spark plugs, and crank the motor using the starter. Then change the oil, replace the spark plugs, connect the injectors, and start the car. Any remaining moisture will vaporise due to the heat of combustion. After it's been running for a short while, I'd then go ahead and perform another oil change.

am I going to be able to drive it for a day before I change the oil? And is cranking it going to get enough water out to keep it from messing up my engine?

I wouldn't run it much without changing the oil, since you have no idea how much water found its way into the crankcase. Cranking it with the plugs out should be sufficient to remove the water.
