94 Accord Ex has a starting problem. Sometimes it will start and sometimes it won't. Replaced the distributor. Still having same issue. Also replaced the fuel filter. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Why didn't you check the starter first? Go have it tested to see if it is going out or not. Sometimes when they are going out they will intermittently work and then not work.

Took it to the shop and they said it was the distributor. Paid for it to be replaced. Then it broke down again and had the fuel filter replaced. They never mentioned the starter. I thought it either worked or it didn't. Is this a common mistake for a automotive shop? Could it be something else? Thank you.

i am assuming car is cranking and not starting correct???? if it cranks it has nothing to do with starter ........ a lot of shops especially non honda specialist will not detect the problem correctly but i think any shops would not replace the distr or fuel filetr if you had a starter issue man i hope they are not that bad ,,, for this reason i am assuming car cranks but wont start .....
you could have a cracked soder in main relay

Hello,
Yes, the car will crank. It just doesn't always start up. Can you please tell me a little more about having a cracked soder? Where would it be? Is it an easy fix? Is it pricey to have done? Thank you so much for your help. Can't wait to have my car back to normal.

the main relay is located under the dash on a 94 i believe it is on the right side of steering column, it has 7 wires going to it and it is kind of brown/rusty color ...remove relay. pry open the 2 little tabs get a magnified glass sometimes the crack are small and harder to see anyho, chk the soderings if you see any cracks resoder and reinstall most of the time there are only 2 that are cracked ..
but when car does not start you want to make sure that it is fuel or spark related first ..if it is lack of fuel the relay is a good place to start i have seen a **** load of them go bad

Re: 94 Accord Ex starting problem...distributor not the problem (1,000,000to1)
Thanks so much for all the help! Glad we narrowed it down between the starter and the main relay. Just a quick poll to anyone who cares to give me an additional 2 cents. The car went in the shop 2 weeks ago. Took 7 days to get it back. Paid for a used distributor, which they were nice enough to install, instead of the $300 model. Total only ended up costing me $160. Car broke down same day and went back. They replaced the fuel filter, just in case that was the problem(at no expense to me). Which it wasn't. It's been a week and they just seem to busy to make it right. Plus they just don't have a clue as to what is wrong. So, my question is... What is the company responsible for? And what would you expect the outcome to be on this situation? I don't want something for free. Just a fixed car and not having got screwed over financially in the process.

well if they replaced dizzy 1 time and fuel filter next time sounds like they dont have a clue they are playing the guess and hope fixes it with customer money ....
they should know wether it is sparkor fuel related and again ,,,IF CAR CRANKS ( TURNS OVER BUT WONT START ) IT IS NOT THE STARTER ,,,,,,,let me say it again if car cranks it is not the starter contrary to what some other people have stated ,when it does not start remove tube from throttle body and spray carb cleaner in there if it starts it is fuel related ......or hook up a fuel pressure gauge and chk fuel pressure ............when it does not start pull a plug wire off stick a screwdriver in wire end and ground it, crank car if no spark could be ignitor, rotor, cap, coil ...it is real easy to know wether it is fuel or spark problem
