Symptoms of a BAD Clutch???
Some history first, I bought the car about 30K miles ago, I knew the clutch was slipping slightly at the time when I shifted quickly, the revs woudl hang for a sec then come back down (slipping clutch I assumed)
The other day going to the track I went to do a burnout and held the RPMS around 7K in order to sit there and burnout a little. The car moved very slowly forward at that RPM but the tires were not spinning. I fugred OK the clutch is completely bastardized now.
So I am going to be getting a new clutch but want to make sure that some other things are not giving me some "time to replace clutch" symptoms.
1. The pedal has nearly NO resistance
2. Clutch engages a hair off the ground
3. Clutch pedal often needs some time or help from me to return to the original position (in other words it will stick there)
4. Trouble getting into some gears
5. I think the slave cylinder?? for the clutch (inside the car by the firewall) has a leak, it never affected anything before but I dont know...
Anyone has some thoughts and/or some ways i can try to make sure the clutch is the culprit and not something else?

you check the hydro clutch fluid? Mine was doing the exact same thing, everyone was saying it was the cylinders, just needed some fluid!
I picked up a bottle of hydro clutch fluid, filled her up, after about 2days clutch was back to good as new!

It's Brake Fluid, not Hydraulic Clutch Fluid.
Have you tried bleeing all the air out of the Clutch lines?
1. Have someone crack open the Slave Cylinder bleeder screw.
2. Push down on the Clutch Pedal and leave it down.
3. Close Slave Cylinder bleeder screw.
4. Release Clutch pedal.
Repeat if neccessary to build pressure in the Clutch system.
Check your Clutch Master Cylinder. Look in front of your Clutch pedal. You'll see a"rod" entering a rubber "grommet". Check for any buildup of fluid in that area.
Follow all the Clutch lines from the Clutch Master Cylinder ALL THE WAY to the Slave Cylinder. Check for any leaks.
I had a leaking Clutch Master Cylinder and my Clutch would slip at anything over 5,000 RPM.
I picked up a bottle of hydro clutch fluid, filled her up, after about 2days clutch was back to good as new!</TD></TR></TABLE>

I actually never heard of Hydraulic Clutch Fluid. Take a pic of the bottle and post it.

i dunno how it compares to brake fluid, by i'd assume becuase its clutch fluid it might be a lil better... Saved me the $$ of having to buy a new MC /SC

Ok I checked into things and when I dive under the dash to look at the clutch pedal assembly there is a rod that travels into the the firewall through a rubber grommet. There is a black sick *** fluid leaking from there. Is that whole assembly the clutch master cylinder?
BTW when i try to search it keeps saying search failed anyone have this?

yep its the clutch master cylinder, that and the gasket comes out to like $100 from hondaautomotiveparts.com

Make sure that the "goo" doesn't touch anything, brake fluid eats paint and pretty much everything it touches. It sounds like the seals in the master are gone. I have a spare master If you want it. 10 over shipping. That might make my opinion seemed biased but I have a new slave as well if that turns out to be the problem. But anyway It doesn't sound like the clutch, it sounds like the clutch isn't getting enough force to hold

Mine was doing the same thing so I checked for leaks in my slave cylinder on the inside and in the engine bay and sure enough........So I replaced it with another and adjusted it to my likening, now its better than ever.

Thanks for all the info, I replaced the clutch MC and everything was fine although the clutch disengaged very high off the ground. Well now, it engages right near the top of the clutch pedal travel, so about 60% of the time I hit the gas from that point the revs shoot up but the car barely accelerates. It seems like huge slipping but wanted to know if adjusting the locknuts on the clutch pedal could help remedy the problem??
