I'm thinking the bolts on the cap backed out causing the cam to snap. I'd maybe search to see if any other DC5 owners have experienced this or maybe if there was even a recall?

Holy shit man, that sucks! As stated above, if they aren't torqued down in sequence or per torque spec, they'll snap like twigs. Looks like the #4 cap being loose caused undesired stress on the cam....

They are a ton of fun to work on. I enjoy wrenching on the car just as much as I do driving it. Both are quite therapeutic for me.

As far as building these beasts, the stock longblock is solid up...

Thanks, yeah it kinda snowballed out of control like pretty much any other car build.

Forgot to mention the intake manifold is a Sound Performance manifold. It utilizes a new, bigger plenum up top...
