Take one of your plugs out, put the plug wire back on and ground the bottom of the plug to the block or valve cover while someone turns the car over with the starter. You should see and hear the plug...

There is another O ring under the solenoid. Just remove the 3 bolts from the top, there is a spring/plunger under the solenoid, it will push the solenoid up a little when it's loosened.

Sounds like you have some needle bearings going or gone out. So the more you drive it the more damage is being done. If your hearing grinding noises there not going to get any better.
