when my "mechanic" saw all the oil under the car, he decided that the only reason would be a leaking oil pan, and replaced the oil pan gasket (if he was any good, he would have pulled out the oil...

I really appreciate all the helpful tips - the timing belt and water pump were replaced 11,000 miles ago (allegedly, before I bought it), that is why I was thinking of doing only the crank seal ... ...

chevy, thanks a lot for answering the question - after removing the cover, is there then direct access to the oil pump (in which the seal is located), or do I still have to remove the timing belt and...
