Re: '95 Civic DX - EJ2 Heavy Mileage Drop: 36-38 Is Now 18

The inside of the engine is a very light gold, no sludge. The dark oil is from blowing so much fuel... got it dirty fast this last time, I'm going to change it early.

This car has run 0w-30 to...

Re: '95 Civic DX - EJ2 Heavy Mileage Drop: 36-38 Is Now 18

Alright the second tank numbers are in... 332.9 miles. While that is close to 27mpg, the Honda should be able to do better than that.

I really had to baby the car to get those miles... short...

Re: D15B7 engine clicking

Yeah, agreed with Honda4speed... sounds like a valve issue. The rocker arm assembly
and most valve trains have the the tendency to make the click noise. Some amount of
noise is normal at cold...

Re: Thermostat question

You should check out my thread on poor gas mileage, just in case... In my case it ended up being the ECM
that was bad, in addition to some tune up parts it needed along the way.

Echoing the best...

Re: R134A conversion drier compatability

Got it. Good information to have. Mine doesn't have an alternate table because it's the factory manual for my specific year ('95).

I'm jealous of the A/C performance in the Del Sol though, in a...

Re: '95 Civic DX - EJ2 Heavy Mileage Drop: 36-38 Is Now 18

We are on the second tank and doing extremely well so far, I will post the results after I have the final numbers, however
it is apparently that with the new ECM the idle speed and timing probably...

Re: Front lower torque (vibration?) mounts necessary?

I have the poly inserts on my daily and aside from a small amount of vibration, the effect is
negligible. I would assume full race mounts are going to transmit even more vibration and
might be a...

Re: 92 vx/y8 swap -- Can't find coolant leak on firewall side of engine

You have to remember that once the water pump is moving, that pipe is pressurized
and can eject a large amount of coolant in a short period of time, not to mention spray
it every which way making...

Re: Possible Clutch Issue...98 Civic DX Sedan

Apology accepted. Just because the change was done by the dealer doesn't always mean
you can accept that and just move on. It's smart to double check because even the
dealership makes mistakes.

Re: R134A conversion drier compatability

Where did 39 degrees come from... your car? I know mine doesn't blow anywhere near
that cold, even in the shade, with a long thermometer in the vent.

The specs are for 92-95 Civics, so since...

Re: 96 civic D16Y7 blowing white smoke after tune up. Is it a HG?

I might just be deposition of clumped rust and minerals due to infrequent coolant changes.
I would do a cooling system flush with a flush chemical, or if you don't feel comfortable
doing it...

Re: '95 Civic DX - EJ2 Heavy Mileage Drop: 36-38 Is Now 18

Return on first tank (cannot verify total amount left in tank before refueling this round)
is 33.5mpg. Any word on the new ECU having a learning ability that takes some time to refine?
Also, I did...

No sense of humor... it's an old expression that equates to 'you really need one of these'.

Re: R134A conversion drier compatability

You have a Del Sol... which means you have like 1/3'rd of the air inside your cabin than my car does, so I'm not surprised it is more than adequate for you.

As to *my* R134A levels, they are...

It could be that your being none-to-friendly has a lot to do with nobody wanting to help you.
I certainly don't want to any longer.

Only hack mechanics throw parts at cars without diagnosing them...

Re: EG torn lower ball joint boot, energy suspension boot bad fit, how to tell wear?

Re: D16y8 gas leak from fuel rail. Need fuel rail assembly info.

He doesn't need to confuse anyone. I gave him the exact part number... walk in and order two of them, four if you like. It's at the bottom of the parts explosion diagram if you missed it.

Re: Any suggestions for a pair of LCA's for 97 Civic Ex

It is a major concern... you should NEVER have a negative caster number... EVER.

BUT at the same time the most likely component to have been bent to cause a negative caster number is that lower...

Re: 96 civic D16Y7 blowing white smoke after tune up. Is it a HG?

If you found oil in your coolant, it is almost certainly a head gasket failure, sorry to break that news.
But I'd do as racerx510 suggests, beg, steal, or borrow a cylinder compression gauge.

Re: Any suggestions for a pair of LCA's for 97 Civic Ex

The only way to adjust caster is to buy an upper control wishbone that has a caster adjustment. Is it that far off? you may have bent more parts than you think. Can you scan the alignment sheet or...

strategy400,

That information is a little old, that was a big concern right at the beginning
when they first started doing conversions. The oil itself does not retain any
of the R12, and thusly...

Re: D16y8 gas leak from fuel rail. Need fuel rail assembly info.

Also, use the proper torque for crushing the washers or they will leak.

If you over tighten them they will also leak.

Torque specs on my D15B7 is 16 foot-pounds only. The washers you showed us...
