Re: better B!

if you love your wife, buy a b20 block and gsr (or b16) VTEC head and stuff it in there with a matching B20 automatic tranny... lol

Re: I'm stumped- alternator belt broke, and car shut off

Update for the hell of it: year and 2 months later, my crank pulley bolt came loose, ground up the key and my pulley ended up free-spinning on the crank lol. Replaced a bunch of stuff, running an...

Re: Help with vtec head swap d15b7

I've been following this, and kinda considering doing something similar to my 92 hatchback.. question though, what do you mean by "does a lil better than stock d15b"? A lil better? The other option...

Re: I'm stumped- alternator belt broke, and car shut off

Frankly i'm not really sure how the hell it happened myself. The alternator belt was only about a year and a half old. All the pulleys are still on, the alternator belt wasn't even broken... it's...

Re: I'm stumped- alternator belt broke, and car shut off

Yeah, the fuel pump primes ok..

Gonna put a new alternator belt on today, check for spark and if the timing has jumped..

Re: I'm stumped- alternator belt broke, and car shut off

Yeah, all the pulleys I can get at turn freely, couldnt get at the a/c pulley as we haven't taken anything apart yet. The CEL never came on either, otherwise I woulda pulled the code and started...

Re: I'm stumped- alternator belt broke, and car shut off

Hmm.. on 2nd thought, the knocking/rattling noise was probably from the strip of belt that was loose and flailing around; I wonder if it hit a wire and broke it somewhere..

I'm stumped- alternator belt broke, and car shut off

So last night I arrived at a friend's house, and noticed a squealing whenever i turn the wheel... power steering belt/pulley was loose, no big deal. (I drive a '92 civic dx by the way) Drank a few,...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

Day off work tomorrow, looks like we're back to square 1- the IACV. Sputtering is gone, misfiring is gone, burning oil is gone, oil mixing with antifrize and vice versa is gone... everything's back...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

Nope.. adjusted distributor timing, still stalling. No more sputtering, no more misfiring, just loses rpm and stalls when stopping. One problem out of the way...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

Well, the car's all back together and running again. Looks like the headgasket was causing the sputtering- car runs nice and smooth for the most part, still stalls when idling under load, but the...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

It's been burning oil since before I bought the car- when i first purchased it, and went to change the oil- the filter hadn't been changed in so long the paint had rusted off of it. When i pulled it...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

That'd be a negative in my case. It would pull better with it floored, which I had to do several times just to get the car moving again, but it still didn't want to go- The engine fired so slowly it...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

Was removing the rod bearing cap on cyl. no. 1, and this semicircular piece of metal fell out of somewhere, didn't see where it came from, and can't for the life of me figure out where it goes.....

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

Is it just a rough idle, or misfiring? Once we got the head off, my headgasket looked like it was in bad shape- that combined with the oil/antifreeze mixing together makes me hope it was just the...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

Well.. everythings taken off- haven't gotten to taking the pistons out yet (working on the car on my days off from work). I can't believe it's a hundred bucks for some new head bolts... damn. I know...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

Took the head off today and inspected everything.. couldn't see any cracks/chips/anything that might cause problems. The headgasket looked pretty bad though. It was replaced around a year ago, but...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

You know, when i changed the O2 sensor, it was pretty black which would indicate running rich. Also after the car's been acting up, i can turn it off and let it sit for a while and it'll sputter on a...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

That's what I'm worried about. The white smoke is gone, but now the radiator/block are full of straight water, and i noticed steam coming out when it was 80 degrees outside. It's also been losing...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

Fuel filter doesn't sound right for how it's acting... it's been a while though so i'll take a look at it.

Noticed the oil on the dipstick looked odd so i changed the oil, came out grey and pretty...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

Right, there is a seperate code for O2 Sensor... however a bad O2 sensor can also trip a code 43. After replacing the O2 Sensor the CEL stopped coming on.

Injectors seem fine, haven't gotten to...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

Cool.. i'll run outside and try some of that here in a few minutes. I didnt think a IACV or vacuum leak would cause anything like that, it's gotta be something with the fuel system, or gunk in the...

Re: '92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

I was leaning towards the IACV... but the way the car acts just doesn't sound right for an IACV. It runs perfect on a cold start.. then misfires and sputters at low rpm once warm. AFTER letting it...

'92 DX misfire/sputtering at low RPM after warm up- I'm friggin stumped.

Recently my '92 DX has started sputtering/misfiring at low rpms after it's warmed up. It'll start and run just fine when cold, but once it's warmed up, and has been driven 10-20 minutes is when the...
