Yeah, I don't need 2 piece rotors. I'd prefer not dropping that sort of money into brakes for a street car.

I guess I'll go Brembo blanks and Hawk HPS this time, just to see what I think of them...

Not very serious. It needs to stay an acceptable DD.

I already flush the fluid at a minimum annually and usually every few months with Super Blue or ATE Gold (switch back and forth) and have...

Need brakes soon on my DA, what to do?

I need new brakes soon on my DA. It's got 152k on it, and is mostly a DD. Right now I've got OEM rotors on it (they could likely use replacement, there's a pretty decent lip) and Axxis Ultimate pads....

So would these work on a bone stock DA? I'd like to lower it maybe an inch without buying new springs/shocks.

Also, do you have cores so I could avoid downtime?

My DA burns quite a bit of oil too, a quart every 500 miles or so most of the time. Perfect compression (190+-1psi on all 4), so it's gotta be the valve seals. Just have to get to replacing them...

Re: (Neptronix)

The grade itself has good pavement, it's only a few years old - but get up between 58 and Atascadero and the pavement is 50 years old - I'm not joking, I've actually researched it. The streets here...

Cool to see someone else from SLO on here, I know what you mean about the roads. I commute from Atascadero to SLO daily and you can't believe how rough the slow lane is (the concrete is from the...

Thumping noise from back of DA?

I've recently noticed a repeating thumping noise from the back of my car at times. It's not all the time, and I've only noticed it at reasonably low speeds (35 max?) and generally only off...

I can even let it sit for a week if needed, what's the best amount of time? I thought it didn't run for a couple months so I'm used to commuting via motorcycle.

Well my dad always owned it, but he didn't take great care of it. I know he let the timing belt break, it's possible that some valves had to get replaced (he doesn't remember) but I don't see how the...

No mods, unless you count removing the intake resonator that sits below the airbox (ie on the dirty side of it). Doing that didn't do anything to oil consumption though, it burned just as much before.

Re: (deftonerider)

And what should the numbers be? I can't imagine getting a lower result with a warm engine than a cold on anyway.

Compression test (1990 B18A1)

Well I've been burning quite a bit of oil (1qt/500 miles if I'm beating on it, but probably 1qt/1000-1500 if it's all freeway), so I decided to do a compression test.

I did it before reading, and...

Mine gets to about 1/3 and then never budges unless I get it REALLY hot - meaning when it was running out of coolant due to a big hole in the radiator it would go up, but that's it.

Well the voltage is the same at 1200rpm (what it's idling at once it's up to 15.8v, maybe 30s after it starts) as at 3000rpm, so it doesn't really get brighter when it's revved up.
