Re: crx fog lights

I was getting all excited, until I saw that photo and the (lack) of beam pattern from those lights. :(

Still, given the price point of them I'm not entirely surprised.

Re: Headlight dimming bass

So you do agree with me that caps only mask the underlying problem then, instead of solving it? I didn't say they didn't work. ;)

I'm certainly no pro when it comes to installing car-audio, so...

Re: Headlight dimming bass

Do you mean that when you floor it the engine takes longer to respond? Or does the engine miss and play up a touch, then go for it?

Re: Headlight dimming bass

Go and have a read of basic electrical theory.

If the guy is having problems with volt-drop due to high load on his cars electrical system, adding a further load (in the form of a capacitor) isn't...

Re: Headlight dimming bass

And when your first long bass note hits, it will drain that cap and make the dimming worse until the cap recharges (if it ever does), but hey at least the dimming will be constant...

Re: recommended 4 channel amp?

You quoted the RMS figures for that amp when you asked what the RMS figures were. It's 4 x 150WRMS @ 4 ohm load.

Re: perfect setup???

It could well be the box the subs are in. Got the sub model number handy, as well as the amp model? Also what sort of box are the subs in? Sealed? Vented?

What don't you like about the two Kenwood 12"s and the PT amp?

Re: converting Watts max to Watts Rms

Just to confuse you further. Fuses don't necessarily blow at the current stamped on them. ;)

There is a multiplication factor applied to the fuses current rating to find out it's minimum tripping...

Re: Alarm not causing car to start?

I had a similar problem with the Meridian brand alarm in my Wagon. Alarm would arm/disarm, but the indicators would stay locked on. There was also a nice accompanying smell of burnt insulation too....

Re: Power Wire and Fuses / Holders ("what size do I need?")-Big three upgrade pics an

Putting 1/0 in from the start can be a good thing if you decide to add more amps down the road, or upgrade to an even gruntier one later on.
It can be a bit of a pain in the bum to run through a car...

Re: Power Wire and Fuses / Holders ("what size do I need?")-Big three upgrade pics an

Most electricians in your area should have crimpers, usually they will happily sell you some lugs to fit your cable, and crimp them on for you. :)
I prefer the hex crimpers too (thats why I bought...

Re: converting Watts max to Watts Rms

I've always viewed max power ratings as pointless BS, which explains why that calculation for converting from max to rms is often so far out it isn't funny.

Re: what size wire loom and heat shrink

I've always had the best results with heatshringk being sized 1/8" to 1/4" larger than the wiring its going over.

Re: Subwoofer Problem

It sounds like a loose connection somewhere, double check you haven't accidentally screwed a terminal down onto the cables insulation as well.

Re: door speakers

Chances are your radio doesn't have enough grunt to drive the new speakers properly.

You could try sealing/deadening the doors.

Re: Power Wire and Fuses / Holders ("what size do I need?")-Big three upgrade pics an

If that is happening, you need to either;
A. Learn how to crimp properly.
B. Use the correct size terminals for the cable.
C. Stop buying rubbish quality crimps and crimpers.

I've never had...
