Injects fresh air in to the exhaust when the engine/cat. is cold. Helps the cat. come up to operating temp. faster thus reducing emissions.

I agree, that's why he needs to check the oil clearence. If that is in spec and the cam spins it will be absolutely fine.

You wouldn't buy a new head and cam caps if you were installing aftermarket cams would you???

Just check the oil clearance with plastigauge and make sure it's within spec and it will be fine.

If the engine has not been run this is not a huge issue. Remove the head, take it to a machine shop and them wash it (tell them what happend, they'll probably run it through the parts washer a few...

Yep, that is just about the most basic swap there is...just use the stock harness from the Civic and extend the connectors that don't reach their new locations.

If the ICM is good, the yellow/green wire coming off the distributor connector should have about 10v with the key on and the engine off. Have you pulled the cap off the distributor yet?
