That is exactly what happened! I just tried what you posted and I do not hear the fuel pump priming. Also, I noticed that check engine light and other misc. lights did not come on when I put the key...

Thanks everyone! I managed to finish it. The only hard part was getting those rubber screws off. They would not come off for SH*T! So I said screw this and took a drill and drilled them out.

Well, I think its mildew and mold build up due to condensation over time. I ALWAYS had my "recirculate" button on, so I think the air didn't have anywhere to go, so condensation built up...
