Starter or solenoid?

Car would not start the other day. I put the key in, and would get the normal churning sound of attempting to start but just would never quite turn on. I didn't have time to mess with it yesterday...

I just checked the light switch. What I found looks like a short black stick screwed in with a white button on the end. When the pedel is depressed, the button is released.

I just pulled every fuse under the hood and under the steering wheel. All are good. I checked all of the bulbs and all of the filaments are in tact.

I will go out and check the light switch. ...

Tailights NOT working

When i hit the brakes, none of my brake lights luminate.
When I turn my headlights on, the tails light up, however, when you hit the brakes they do not get brighter.

Guy @ the tint place said that the tint will not adhere to the plastic.
