Re: D16Z6 recommended oil? (dogbiscuit)

Seeing as how it has 150K on it, I'd stick with a high mileage oil.

My 94 EX has 230K on it and I use Mobil 1 High Mileage oil, 5W-30.

Re: too much oil ? (10K2HVN)

Yeah, drain some out.. It's weird, I used to have risingson's attitude about this.. Then, my fiancee bought a 97 Prelude from her parents.. Her father did all the maintenance.. He ALWAYS put a quart...

Re: More revs? (22lbGS-R)

I agree, 8500 shouldn't be too much of a problem on a B series..

Re: Dreaded "check engine" light....please help (Perfectionist)

I'm not sure if the ECU will spit codes when driving with the engine cold.. I'm questioning the whole "warm up period" anyway.. This guy that lives next to me, he throws his 87 LX around and slams...

Re: Is this healthy? (HonaTek1)

NO2 is great for "Power when you need it".. But 100 shot huh? It'll work, I'd imagine 3 maybe 4 runs and that engine's toast..

Okay... I have a few oil questions.. I honestly can't come up with the answers..

Okay, My fiancee just bought her mom's 97 Prelude (She got a great deal, it's her mom, damn she's lucky). Anyway, all regular maintenance was done by her father. She drove it home today. I was poking...

Re: need a better top end (spooled b16)

Re: How to push start a car? (GZERO)

I would probably laugh until I pissed my pants if someone started their auto down a hill in neutral and popped it into drive as it was rolling.. That would be something I've never heard of before..

Re: bad water pump (Panda EK)

By "I get heat" I'm assuming from the vents... How's the coolant level, how long has it been since you flushed the coolant? How many miles are on the car? My first thought is, coolant low or...

Re: intakes make any real power? (deepnite)

CAI's make roughly 4hp I'm guessing.. Short rams are basically for throttle response... I do know that a 3 inch intake pipe will help make the most power.. The short rams roughly 1 or 2 hp...

Re: AEM Underdrive Pulley kit (t3h nSomNeeAK)

The only part I don't like is the crank pulley. I know honda's are internally balanced and it shouldn't matter but that sends up a flag for me.. Don't wanna take the chance.

Re: From REDLINE MTF back to honda tranny fluid??? Is this fine? (Rybrid)

You shouldn't run into problems.. It's like switching from syn to reg back to syn motor oil.. It's indifferent, the tranny won't know any different or act any different. People switch from regular...

Re: 10w-30 as tranny fluid? possible? (89cvchb)

It says 10w-30 in my manual for a quick fix kinda thing.. I don't trust it though, I will only use Honda MTF or Redline..

Re: 7thgen EX Civic w/ nitrous question. (HolyWater)

Well, depending on the setup, NO2 is only gonna work for 7 seconds at a time. That may be the reason is drops off in third, time's up. I am unfamiliar with the 7th gen's reaction to squeezing the...

Re: Headlight warning buzzer??????? (skunk2unerz)

Re: Honda gets ripped a new one by SCC!! (SpoonFedHatch)

I don't really think the SRT-4 is going to be the same car when it's released. Those are some serious numbers coming out of a 4 banger. I'm waiting to see how they handle the "no muffler" aspect of...

Re: Differences between D16Z6 and D16Y8? (X2BOARD)

Rods are beefier basically.

As far as up top, I think the z6 doesn't fare so well in terms of quench zones and it handles combustion gases less efficently than the Y8.

Re: how high can a stock d16z6 valvetrain rev up to? (Mr. Sparkle)

They are limited for a reason.. That's incredible stress on the engine to exceed redline on stock internals. I don't see a need to push over 7k, the most my old Z6 would go was 7500rpm before you run...

Re: Rev limit kicks in early (jlicrx)

Ouch, if that's the case.. Hitting the limiter on a cold engine, SMART!
