Computer allows you to easily modify air/fuel ratio AND ignition timing at all rpms, not just wide open throttle. Plus, you can reset the rpm limit, automatically change a/f and timing with nitrous or under boost, etc ,etc. Even has accessory ports so that you can activate something at certain rpm, like a shift light or vtec or whatever. See http://www.efisystems.com for info. The hand-held unit also lets you monitor a/f ratio, injector pulse width, rpm, boost levels, timing, etc., while you drive. This one comes with obdII harness, which is for all hondas/acuras 1996-1999, but I am sure you can trade someone for an obdI harness if you want. Will sell for $450.
