Re: why a 5 lug conversion?
I guess it depends on what you mean by wheel choices. It was always my understanding that there are fewer choices in 5 lug wheels in 15" sizes. Step up to something larger though and that changes pretty quickly.
I guess it depends on what size wheels you'd be running.

Re: why a 5 lug conversion?
Why do people run 5-lug? The main reason that I've seen (personally) is because other people they run with have 5-lug, and they want to be able to borrow/swap wheels for convenience.
I have a Integra Type R race car, sold the 5-lug (for $700) and put 4-lug on. Here is why:
- $700 is nice
- Most people here run EG's with 4-lug
- ITR brakes or aftermarket brakes all fit, the mounting is identical
- I run 15x7's, way easier to find in 4x100
- Lighter weight (more than you'd think )
- Cheaper and more common replacement parts (e.g. wheel bearings)
The advantages of 5-lug are:
- They are baller
- If you want to run 17's, more are available in 5x114
- Front wheel bearings are bigger and stronger vs 4-lug wheel bearings
- The old myth that 5-lug is "more racey"

Re: why a 5 lug conversion?
One benefit to 5lug, which most of you won't use is the ability to use the Accord/Prelude/Odyssey wheel bearing and hub in custom upright. Thus getting the stronger hub and wheel bearing. Although on the Civic using the Integra wheel bearing is a good upgrade for a race car. Luckily you can get this bearing to fit the four lug and the five lug setup.

Re: why a 5 lug conversion?
The whole bigger brake with 5 lug is a myth. I currently have an EK with prelude vtec rotors which are the same size as ITR, and using ITR calipers, retaining 4 lug on 16's. Of course there are some mods you'd have to do to make it fit. Been running this setup for years without any issues. Well the only issue is when getting replacement parts; I somtimes forget what parts I have from what car lol.

Re: why a 5 lug conversion?
y run 5 lug, bigger rear disc , get crv 97-01 front knuckles to run 36mm axles . so when your running a k motor like i am i can just run stock type s axles and not have to worry about and i've been running it since 2001 so i only buy it when its super cheap

Re: why a 5 lug conversion?
For the time and money you spent on a 5-lug conversion you could easily buy brakes that will clean your nose.
5-lug for brakes is definitely not the reason people do it. You can fut ITR brakes on redrilled rotors.
5-lug has more unsprung weight, so it's a performance decrease.
The ONLY reason I could see doing it is for wheel options. Even then this isn't something to write home about.
It's definitely not braking. 4-lug knuckles actually are easier at least for doing oem brake conversions. My brake guy has NSX front/rear brakes on 4-lug knuckles. He's made 43 various oem/knuckle combinations including a Ferrari f430 front brake kit for his civic, and he says 5 lug is a waste of time. 4-lug has far more capability as far as the oem brake upgrade department goes.

I'm really 2slow
Re: why a 5 lug conversion?
I built my own 5 lug setup. I was currently using 4 piston RL front calipers and 16" wheels with my 4 lug setup. I had to step up to 17" wheels for tire choices mostly. So 5 lug was the way to go for me. Looking for another brake kit meant more money and time spent.

Re: why a 5 lug conversion?
Those who say "wheel options" are a reason to go 5x114.3 have clearly never tried to find wide, light 15" wheels with this bolt pattern.
