W0W ... I have not seen that much push since the vids of my stock GSR at HPDE.
Easy to win when you have 3X the HP.

To me it looks more like driver induced push. It doesn't look like his lines are good at all, but just the power making him fast.

Wow, that power is amazing But the skills...ehh.
On almost all of the turns he turns in a bunch early... and likes to pick up a ton of dirt.
What's the deal with the brakes squeaking like that?

Re: (94accordsedan)
I like how hes taking advantage of the 4wd by chopping all his apex's
his tire squeal did sound like he wasnt maximizing cornering. more like just moroting thru the straights.
dunno whats up with the brake squeal...I figured it would have gone away at a track such as Laguna.

Admit it, the turbo spool sounds nice, too.
Would love to see how those front tires hold up. Looks like the car could definitely be loosened up more, and perhaps more tq dialed to the rear wheels as well. The only place where 4wd can be a slight advantage is on corner exit where you can get on the gas earlier than your competition, especially with a car that has turbo lag. This usually means apexing the turns later than that video showed most of the time. Seems some of those cars he was catching were actually getting away initially on corner exit because the Evo was late to get on the gas. But when it did, it was making nice sounds. All imo of course. Nice vid.

Re: (HapaHaole)
it's funny you say honda cup, when it lapped faster than every other car including the real time cars in ITE even a 1000 hp porsche got passed - on the straights no less.
but then again with 305 wide Hoosiers on all four corners in a car a mere 2800 pounds with driver, copious braking and absolute power it's alot of car for it's class.
And when you saw old RX-7s diving under him in corners and braking it shows where drivers skill is less than perfect. But it was fast regaurdless so

glancing through that thread,
all the sackswingers talk about how the driver would do great in SWC GT</TD></TR></TABLE>
When their racing resume includes 12 hrs of GT4 then yeah thats expected. Oooh look its a real race car on a real track the guy must be good. Goodness these guys would think Alex Yoong was World Champion calibre.

Re: VID: This Evo murders you guys at Laguna SCCA Honda Cup :p (HapaHaole)
"With that attitude you'll never beat him, Wolf is very very good but human...he makes mistakes like all of us. I'll give you some hints on how to catch him: on your lap of Sebring your brake releases and throttle applications are too abrupt causing oversteer at speeds that are slower (.5-1mph) below what the car should achieve with it's current set-up (mainly on the slow and mid-speed corners). You turned too early at 1 (added steering at apex). You also tend to turn a little early (very common even at your level) that's why the oversteer appears just before the apex where you are finally reaching max steering angle (you should be at max angle sooner so you can open your hands up sooner and get to the throttle earlier). Get some Motec data with a top guy to overlay and you'll see your peak g is too late in the corner and apex speed is down a hair.
Greg is right, you do have skills but we can all get better. Hope this helps "
nice tidbit...
ps, you guys have seen leh here once in a while...

Horsepower must be bliss.....
I've seen smoother driving in a Wal Mart parking lot. I'd love to see what those tires would look like after about 20 laps or so.
1000 hp Porsche? Where?

Re: (e9)
Yeah, I'm not sure what they've done to the car. When we first raced against him at BW, he qualified on pole in ITE and David was about a half sec behind him in the S2K. In the race though David chased him down and passed him about 5 laps in and then pulled away - his crew in the tower was not happy (but Kent does seem to be a nice guy). A race or two later, the car is 5 sec/lap faster than us!! (now down to about 3.5 sec )
I think it may have been the larger wheels and tires, and maybe some more power too. It didn't have the fender flares and 305 Hoosiers when it first appeared, so they've certainly upgraded something. I have hard time believing its actually 3300 lbs w/driver though. That would mean they got less than 200 lbs out of it after adding the cage in. If you look at the car up close its very well prepped, very clean, and totally stripped. I'd guess its closer to 3100 lbs with driver, but that's a WAG at best.
The car definitely has potential, and Kent has gotten better (didn't he total a car at WS at a Speedventures event earlier this year? My apologies to him if he didn't), but when a WC touring car is as quick, there has to be a lot of time left in the Evo.

Oye. I don't know how you make Hoosiers sound like that. That thing looks like it handles worse than my Evo + rear swaybar did.
The brake squeal happens on those cars if you use Ferrari F40 sized pads. Sometimes even with the right pad it'll squeal like a banshee. I had that discussion with Andie @ Cobalt a long time ago.
