Tony Kanaan + BAR F1 test date confirmed
Good maybe they'll get rid of Sato. (I mean that dude gives Honda engines a bad name by blowing one up every other weekend.)
Tony in F1 would be awesome, who knows the imminent break up of IRL may cause Honda to start supplying engines to other teams.
Gah apparently you can't link from SpeedTV.com, anyway the date is Sept 29 at Jerez.

Tony Kanaan is not going to F1, this test is just a thank you for his IRL championship from last year.
Kanaan hasn't even won on a road course since his Indy Lights days back in 1998, which coincidentally was the last time Danica won a race in anything.

hahahhahaha forget that TK would be best suited in a Jordan. Reubens is on deck, and that is awesome. Honda will not drop Sato for next season, hes the JDM poster child.

despite his recent mistakes takumo sato would make TK look like a joke put on the same track.
besides jaun pablo montoya, who was obviously leagues above anyone else in the irl when he raced there, has anyone from any american racing league been fast in a f1 car?

IMO Zanardi would have done better if he didnt show up at the absolute worst time for Williams (Newey left, etc) but of course thats just speculation
back to the topic, yes, kanaan is wack. there are 4-5 drivers in the BAR young driver programme that would get the drive before him

Exactly! Sato hasn't blown a Honda lump this year yet, but it's last season that cemented his rep for blowin' motors so I guess that's what people always remember, regardless if it applies to this season or not.

JV's car when he was 'good' in F1 was leagues better than ANY other car (except his teammates cars, obviously equal - and look who his teammates were). Since then - he has been barely mediocre.
Chris - who also does not remember sato blowing up an engine in a long time.

Sato is a brilliant driver, always having a string of weird luck recently, good stuff button finishing 3rd though. those damn maclarens are very very quick

i wouldn't say "brilliant." he's a gutsy driver though. one that takes alot of risks, but whether it's luck or talent that runs out on him midway through one of his moves, i dunno. though, you could make a case for either: engine kill (which i think was just unlucky) @ silverstone vs. bonehead move @ magny cours...
he needs more discipline, and some good luck. but BAR's proven that the car is the 3rd best in F1 over the past few races--Sato's driving hasn't proven that fact, though.

Weird luck? How? When was he running in the points (i.e., running 'well') when something 'bad' happened? Once that I can think of. He qualifies mid-pack at best, with few exceptions. And he always seems to be in the middle of a mess.
I would like nothing better than Sato to be very successful.... but even his best fans have to know that he is not proving his worth AT ALL at this point. He has had one good finish - and unfortunately for him it didn't count. (imola)

The problem is who could BAR get to replace Sato? RB may or may not be at Ferrari next year, but I really don't see him going to another number two seat. if you always judge f3 results and bring them up to relate and speculate on f1 level, then theoretically martin brundle should've been right up there with senna.
there are drivers that'll learn / adapt quicker than some and there are that won't.
Ant isn't racing because his image is too bland, and thus not that marketable. I REALLY hope he gets a full season's chance just to see what the fuss is about with this guy.
2nd reason I want ant to race is so that Carroll can fill that tester role.

If you are talking about Wheldon, there is no way in hell he'll get a competitive F1 ride. I think he is just talking about F1 and NASCAR to try and fish for a better contract deal with AGR. Of course, seeing as the Honda subsidies are going to be gone after '06, they don't have that kind of money to spend on him.
