for the hondas you need to has have a cone shape like this, \ /, as that is how the casting in the knuckle is done.

Not if you drill out the taper.

Or change the taper to the GM size the stock car guys use and run one of these:

i have the competition engineering kit. You need to drill the taper out to 1/2" to use the kit.

It replaces the whole tie rod assembly with lightweight aluminum pieces, not just the tie rod ends so it saves some weight which is nice I guess.

edit: i can't find it anywhere on the Jegs website or Competition Engineering's website... Which is funny since I just bought it this summer.... They must have discontinued it really recently.

I've thought about going that route as well, but its a grey area in the HC rules. Not sure its a fight I could win...

eh i'd through them on, considering suspension bushings are free. I'd make the argument that a ball joint is a suspension bushing.

It is just the drilling of the knuckle that, puts it out of the legal realm for me.

Your car wouldn't happen to be an EF, would it? I see the kit is intended for the EG and EK, but I want it for the EF. If your car is EG/EK, could you please take a measurement for me? I'm looking to get the overall length of the inner/outer tie rod assembly; similar to the measurement that Competition Engineering asks you to take during the installation of the kit.

Step 3 from "Disassembly": http://static.summitracing.com...0.pdf

Thanks

Jacques

Thanks, but I was after the overall length of the tie rod assembly so I could see if they are long enough or too long for the EF.

cut and re-thread if its too long.

Too short would be the only issue

From the looks of things, the tubing has a threaded stub welded into either end. This probably wouldn't work.

Either way, I could lengthen (add tubing) or shorten. I was hoping to avoid any fab at all. I'm pressed for time. If I'm going to fab, I'll fab it 100%.

Semi-on-topic question:

Can kits like the CE ones be used to flip the tie rod end to the bottom of the knuckle arm to help fix bump steer?
