Default Shear Bolts for Splitter

Any recommendations on shear bolts for a splitter blade? Currently running PCI Splitter and looking for something that is strong enough to withstand typical down force loads but weak enough they'll shear off in case of impact.

Let me hear your recommendations!

There are "elevator bolts" and they are similar to carriage bolts but flat. Is that what your after?

I use carriage bolts. I also countersink them into the splitter blade a small amount. That lets the bolts rip through the blade when you go off road.

I am after bolts that will break or shear if and when the splitter is impacted. Thus dropping the blade under the car and not damaging frame rails. I am currently using the bolts that Kiwi has provided in the PCI Splitter Kit.

What is your splitter blade made from? In most cases a wood or composite blade will break or the bolt will pull through before the bolt will break.

Also I believe that the lower portion of the Kiwi mounts are aluminum. I have seen those bend and break away without damaging the threads on the frame rail.

Ok that was my main concern. I have seen too many cars damaged by the splitter not falling away.

I've wondered if the Push-in plastic fasteners (the larger kind) would do the job. They seem pretty strong, but I think they'd break when needed.
