Re: SCCA Showroom Stock C approved EM1 (blue hatch)
Whats the max allowable age on a showroom stock car? I thought it was 5 years?!
I love the car..it just seems a bit "old" when you think there are two generations of Civic (albeit, not as good) in front of this one.

and as for the car age question...

Classed by performance potential into two classes: Showroom Stock B (SSB) and Showroom Stock C (SSC).
Each class has over 30 different cars eligible to compete within that class. SSB is made up of entries like the Acura RSX-S, BMW Z-4, Honda Civic, Mazda MX-5 and Pontiac Solstice. SSC is the slower, but no less exciting Showroom Stock class and includes cars such as the Chevy Cobalt , Honda Civic Si, and Mazda3.

*edit* i DO have more pics of that shop, if your interested....just didnt know if i should post them because they dont really have anything to do w/ road racing

I saw the run-offs, good stuff. There is an article in AutoWeek where that car got into the picture behind the cobalt, mazda and other Si I forget which week it was though. Good car if somebody wants to jump straight into racing w/o building the car themselves.

it's 10 years past the last chasis/body year. so 2000 was the final body year, you can race this car through 2009. or to put it simply, it has 2 years left nationally. after playing with it stock for 2 years, then you can make an improved touring car with it and really have some fun (strip it, coilovers, etc. etc.).

ha. why don't you ask multi-national champion jim daniels that built the car. aka mr. spec miata, aka mr. pro mx-5 cup champ.
i'm joking. it is a little thick. i'd rather it be thick than have a gap in it. i guess one could grind it down if they were overly concerned about it.
funny thing, i weighed it a few months back. perfect 50% cross weight.
the car was on ebay, twice. no luck. it was in autoweek. it also got a good 5+ minutes of airtime on speed TV. i should have a dvd of that race later this week and will try to get something up on you tube.
in the meantime, here is the first 10 minutes of in-car from the race. gets kinda interesting around the 5 - 6 minute mark (watch the cars battling for the lead in front).

i'm the owner btw.
