Re: Rollcall for the HC national
1. Downey
2. Merris
3. Oldt
Supposedly Helms is/wants to go and now add one more to the list.
Plus Kiwi will be there with a H1 car. So that is 5 to 6 cars. If the locals do it there will be 2 or 3 more.

Will there be enough for contingency?
I am not 100% sure my sister car is going, but I think he is trying to. It would only be proper though that both H1 Gear-X cars show I must say.
I am relying on donations and only a few have stepped up to help me go,(Kiwi being one),though the total hasnt been enough money to sign up.This isn't even thinking about my 1 fresh set of tires yet.lol Thanks to benny for helping with logistics if I make it.

Joe...........In this case, you've not done your homework and need to check the rules again........
Firstly, your comments on running for free.
If you are also talking about Ryan, you're upset he gets to run for free? No duh! Who's he gonna pay for an entry, himself? Should this exclude him from collecting points as well? I certainly don't think so!
Onto the Toyo bucks rant.
The Toyo program is suppose to provide rewards to people running in Spec Toyo classes on Toyo tires! Ryan, myself, and you buy our tires usually from the same place! Then we race on them and buy some more. Tell me again why he/we shouldn't collect them? I just can't figure out your thinking here! It's pretty simple, you buy the tires and race on them in one of the spec classes, you should qualify for the reward! Why not?
Hopefully I've given you a little different perspective on this topic!

My opinions are formed based on what I read in the rules.
GCR 12.2 Participant Eligibility And Requirements
Any driver wishing to enter a NASA sanctioned road race, must meet the following requirements:
6. Fully pay all applicable fees.
I am not upset if anyone get's to run for free. In this case, it might seem silly to you, but how else is anyone in the run group going to know that the entrant is running that day? If you're waiting to get weighed 'cause you think you drove well enough to get a podium, only to find out that there was an "invisible" entrant that placed higher...
That there is one source of my bitterness, and I suppose I could be accused of being guilty of GCR 23.1.2 Unsportsmanlike Conduct...losing without grace.
GCR 22.5 Fun Runs
GCR 22.6 Non Points Runs
GCR 23.1 Participant Conduct Expectations
GCR 23.1.1 Good Sportsmanship
Although my issue about the Toyo bucks is not specifically addressed in these GCR line items that I've cited, it is MY OPINION that it would be an act of ULTIMATE SPORTSMANSHIP for someone to not take points or prizes, if they did in fact run for free. It's kind of a no brainer, ethically speaking...
In regards to the 5 race rule. I can't seem to find it in the rules, but I overheard in the paddock; "People will understand if I don't run the 5 races, because I'm a NASA official." This statement displays some amount of arrogance and exclusivity on that person's part, based on their position in the league, again this is only MY OPINION...Sorry I jumped the shark with my snark like comments, maybe I should have waited 'till it actually happened before talking pooh pooh with my post. I've already offered a sincere apology here publicly.
The only perspective I gained from your response was that Ryan buys his tires just like the rest of us. Thanks again for the reply.
Johnny Mac- My foot was already solidly in my mouth before I started to post, but I've hopefully illustrated the gist of where my opinions are coming from. BTW, about the rules help, the "head honcho" actually told me to install the "other" part on my car and "no one will know" were the exact words. I'm not sure I feel good about going that route and that's why I'm still a bit miffed about the league's policies and procedures. So much for trying to do it the right way.....I have not given up however, due to the additional data that we've compiled and mentioned in that garage in Redondo Beach.
Oh Yeah, Renan- If I were trying to exclude everyone faster than me, that would have to be every single car on the HC grid, no exaggeration!
To show good faith and some repentance to ALL parties concerned, I will buy ALL the post race beer at the next event Cal Speedway. CHEERS!

Now thats more better...
This is even more reason for me to show up if anything the beer!
Thanks for making the peace! I applaude you for that!
Lets get back to that MFactory Rice Cooker.
I have to have one like yesterday so Renan I'll take an untested prototype,
As long as the shirt comes with it.

But as far as having a "CHAMPIONSHIP" for a class, 4 competitors is the minimum for any given class. If H1 were to have only 4 competitors, lets hope ALL 4 racers makes it through the weekend and doesn't incur any damage to their car. Because if any one of the 4 cars break, blow-up or gets busted,...no championship race?
That would suck for the remaining 3 cars in that class.

Re: Rollcall for the HC national
Hey I have a good idea about running free. Anyone that comes into NASA the first time to run a race group should get a free race weekend pass. I bet more and more people would jump ship. What do you guys think about that humm Ryan, Jeromy.

I know. I was trying to lighten the mood and make another joke, but my post was WAY to serious for that.

Re: Rollcall for the HC national
Technically no. If you dig deep enough in the Championship rules, there is a rule that allows the NASA officials let anyone in that they want. (I'm not saying that's a bad thing) I came close to using that rule 2 years ago when I did the story for SCC, but I think I actually made it in without that by using a different rule that lets you apply points from two time trial events toward the five required events. At the last event at Buttonwillow I entered Joe B's H4 car in Super Unlimited and took the green flag both days. I also ran my street car in the time trial both days. All I need is to take a green in one of the races at Cal Speedway and I'm all set.
I think you could get everything covered in one event if you have any more in your region before September. It would be great to see you racing at the Nationals. I haven't raced my own car since the day you got crunched in Madness back in '04 and I have to say I'm really looking forward to it.

Re: Rollcall for the HC national
H1 is where HC racers race with 220+whp....i don't see how that's considered a Pu..y. H2 is the new H4, except that engine swaps are now legal...I mean, racing with less than 180whp is fun too. As far as H2 action is concerned, that's all happening waaaaaaaay behind Renan...isn't it?
