Default Older carbotech panther + vs newer hawk hp+?

Hi all,
Seeking some advice for an upcoming track day. I have a 2000 Civic Si that I have done several track days with in the past.... but it has been a few years. Ok several years. I have some old carbotech panther plus pads that I think I used 2 or 3 times (front only) with plenty of pad left and I'm trying to decide if I should get a new dedicated set of rotors to run with these or if I should get rotors and the hawk HP+ and then also some hp-s to swap to for street driving. Currently I just run stock pads on the street. The car has lines and I run rbf600 but all stock brake setup otherwise. I was just curious as to opinions since like I said its been quite a while and I don't know how those two setups compare. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

There are lots of threads on brake pads.. google search brake pads use Honda tech in the search string. You'll find plenty of good info that way.
If you want to get new rotors they are pretty cheap.
The vatozone ones are decent for tracking.
Pads are changing all the time, just read up a little and you'll find your pad.

Thanks, I actually did search and read whatever I could find on both pads. The hawks were recommended to me but I already have the carbotechs so I was hoping maybe someone would have an experience with both. Rotors are cheap so I think maybe I'll just use the ones I have and worry about buying new stuff when these wear down.

If you're just getting back into the swing of things... use what you've got. It's not like HP+'s are super high end track pads anyway...

I remember running Panthers in the rear and Panther Plus up front on my last ITR (circa 2002-2003. I know the fronts I was running aren't as aggressive as what you've got but I'm betting that they'll be plenty fine for a day at the track. Add some fresh rotors and a brake bleed and you should be good to go.

THanks for the reply. I know the HP+'s are not super high end track pads..it's just what came reccomended to me as a pad I could drive to/from the event with and have acceptable performance on track with my semi-stock setup. The carbotechs are old and like you mentioned I know a lot of the ITR guys ran them back when they were new so I hoped maybe someone could chime in and tell me if what I already owned was similar/better compared to the HP+, or if they are (by comparision) crap and I would be happier to spend the $90 on some new pads.

Even in a slow DD (Civic CX), I can fade HP+s in less than 3 laps, with R-compounds. Good autocross pad, but I have no idea how guys can use them on the track.

Dude if I was youe sponsor and saw it in your signature on here you'd be dropped. Is it really that big of deal that someone asked a question that's been covered? 90% of your posts are the same thing.
