I wonder if this could really happen??? They have been pretty dominant in their current series'..........would they really walk away from that success and struggle for a few season in F1??????? Nice pics BTW Tim

Re: The Official Formula 1 2014 Season Thread
I think it has to do with Merc actually succeeding. BMW hoped to do what Merc is doing. If Audi joins, I can't imagine BMW not getting back into too, and Bernie would like nothing more than more manufacturer backed teams coming in - under his terms anyway, and not like when the teams tried to form their own series.
What is this crap?
Re: The Official Formula 1 2014 Season Thread
Merc is getting mad brand exposure

^^^ Falc0n thinking like a champion.
I still say no way. Obviously I am not a champion, so keep that in mind.
Sold Jetta today, spent 6 hours in the new (old) 03' Civic SEDAN. 5 SPD. 3 PEDALS. ITs a hoot (of lulz).

Re: The Official Formula 1 2014 Season Thread
my new bicycle commute is 18 miles round trip. i've found decent routes that keep me off roads without bike lanes, but the problem is if i ride in the mornings it is going to be dark soon - and when the temperature is below 55F my ears get cold. this sounds silly but it gives me an extremely sharp constant pain through my head like when you eat too much ice cream. have tried several different kinds of bands / caps which gives me a few minutes longer before the pain sets in but this commute is about double anything i've had before. nothing really keeps my ears warm. what should i do?
Re: The Official Formula 1 2014 Season Thread
I wear a fleece head band warmer thingy, not cycling specific. I HATE being cold, and this works for me. Since its just a band it doesn't impact helmet fit. Find one and give it a whirl.
What is this crap?

fleece is a good idea. thanks. i don't care if it makes me look like a puss

Can you guys think of any persistent F1 rumours that turned out false? I can't think of any. I guess I'm not championship material.

There was a rumor that Alonso would go to Ferrari and win 4 WDCs.

for humanity.
do we need more k-motors in miatas?
i'm serious doe, is this a good idea? or is it like a V8 in a fiero? or maldonado having a superlicense? (both of which are intended to be examples of bad ideas. but i'll stand or sit corrected if need be.)

I was at Road America a few months ago and there was a K-powered Miata there driven by the founder of kmiata. Besides the small dent on the right front the car itself wasn't bad.

That was at turn 7 at Road America. For your FYI the 1995 Indy 500/IndyCar and 1997 Formula 1 champion Jacques Villeneuve won his first IndyCar race at Road America as a rookie in 1994.

That was my first time there and it's one of the best tracks I've been on. Also, if you haven't, try the "Gearbox Melt" at the Gearbox food stand.

Re: The Official Formula 1 2014 Season Thread
From Road & Track:
"The "hamburgers-with-buns-made-of-other-food" genre has given us wonders like the Luther Burger, a patty between two Krispy Kreme doughnuts. But Road America's Gearbox Melt is better. It's simpler, for one thing—a hamburger packed into a grilled cheese. And you order it from the Gearbox concession stand, which has a great view of the epic track's final corner, turn 14. If the drivers are putting it all on the line right in front of you, the least you can do is risk a little heartburn."

Yes. All of them need it.
It makes a lot of sense for a very small market I think (track guys who want reliable power for 30 minute sessions and don't care about rules).
I was planning to turbo my car this past season as it is the only way to make any power reasonably with the 1.6L engine. The problem is with a track car you put a ton of heat under the hood with a turbo and it breaks things you would never expect. So... after a year of fighting with it you might finally end up with a reliable 200hp Miata. (If you were just talking about a street car that got a few highway pulls here and there a turbo would be fine)
The kmiata stuff is very expensive up front but after the swap is done, it's a $1,000 engine that makes 200hp and should live through 2 hours of track time like it's nothing.
It also helps that I've always been a Honda fan so going back to a Honda powerplant with huge aftermarket support will be nice. The Miata engine aftermarket is surprisingly small.
