Default Nice rack...

I'm doing a swap on my EG6 and want to swap out the steering rack while I'm in there. What's the easiest to put in there, while keeping p/s, and getting away from this 100 turns lock to lock?

EK power steering rack with DC pinion gear will net the fewest turns L2L.

I've heard reports that the ITR is the same as the non R, but I've also read that the R is quicker. Good luck.
As far as the hybrid L2L, again, some say its 3.2 others say less than 3. I'm in the process of doing the frankenswap on the bench, so I don't have any good way to measure the L2L.

Here's a HT link that should give you the needed info. https://honda-tech.com/honda-civic-d...-rack-2422762/

How about the Quaife steering rack? Does it maintain p/s?

Quafie kits are manual rack+pinion gear sets, They make a 3.25 turns LTL for the EG and a 2.8 LTL for the EF manual racks. You can get the EF kit to work in an eg case, I made a thread explaining how.

94-01 Integras with powersteering are all the same rack, 2.98 LTL. The ITR rack is exactly the same.

Putting an integra pinion gear in an EK PS rack makes it the same as the integra rack, not faster. This is a good option for EK's.

OP, you have an EG so an integra rack would be both the easiest and fastest rack. Go that route.

Unsure, download the FSM and look it up. I know the eg manual rack is 4.25, I want to say the eg ps is like 3.6 or 3.8, but look it up. It's definently slower then the integra rack.

The civic rack is slow and boring I guess that's all that matters. After looking up the parts, it is confirmed that all Integra steering racks available are the same, part # 53601-ST7-A63. The 94 era models had a part # ending in "A61", though this part seems to be discontinued.

OP, I don't know if you're driving a true EG6, or a local model hatch. Personally, I drive the EG6, and would like to upgrade the 250,000km leaking original RHD rack. Interestingly, the Japanese online parts stores offer several different part numbers for the jdm Integra. Unfortunately it's hard to tell which number belongs to which car. I'm led to believe 53601-st7-z03 is the type r part. Is this rack quicker than the other RHD Integra racks? More research required. But possibly.

Okay, so I have the rack out and started looking for replacement racks. Majestic wants $1000! How are the reman ones from rockauto? They have an ACDelco for $200.

What about all the seals? One would think that if they come from a wrecking yard, they would be dried up or worn excessively. Is there anyone who does a good reman job on them?

You could always replace all of the seals yourself. I'd install new tie rods while you were at it. Also check ebay. I purchased a complete ITR subframe and p/s rack for $0.01 I think that it cost me $50 to ship. Freshened it up and its been working great for nearly 8yrs now.
