Re: my diy front splitter
First off great handy work it looks fantastic! Any results or impressions after driving with the splitter on? I'm thinking of doing a similar DIY splitter and I'm curious if you could feel it working. Thanks for the DIY pics btw, they are always helpful when getting inspiration for my own projects.

He means if you go off and bury the splitter that you don't bend tow hook cups or frame . You want it strong enough but not so it damages the car . Been there done that .
I went off and drive straight and the left side of the splitter dug in , spun me around and lifted the right side if the car to almost tipping point. Had to change left side frame rail .

Been running (soft) SP splitter brackets using 3/8th plywood with my own fiberglass reinforcement on the stress and hit zones for over a year. Yes, it has flex. It is strong yet will bend, flex or break before transmitting damage to the chassis. I don't require that it be ubber strong, just to get much as possible within its limitations and know the spitter is sacrificial if it slams something hard.
But the risk taking side me says use the 3/4", then the splitter can double as a huge jack point anywhere near the brackets

I must agree with the concerns above about what happens when things go very wrong, off track excursions. Kiwi's setup has been there when I need it with regards to aero grip and even more so with those "oops" moments when Ive gone off track. so far Ive cracked a splitter, bent 2 splitter brackets, bent one frame bracket [thank goodness the frame did not bend]. Everything that cracked or broke did so without damaging the car.

Re: my diy front splitter
hey guys. i've been MIA lately. thanks for the compliments and comments.
i can't really comment on the handling of the car because i never had it on track prior to adding the splitter. guess it's a little backwards, but i was getting as much done on the car as possible because child #2 is due to arrive in March. the rear of my car was very twitchy. not sure if it's due to grip up front, but many have advised that i run some sway bars to calm it down. right now i have none. thought a sway bar would only worsen the problem, but i'm taking the advice of those who have been there done that. plan on adding oem F&R sway bars this winter. planning on just going GSR size for now.
i'm running a 1/2" plywood splitter blade. only brough up the 3/4" cuz of the deflection when standing on it, but guessed that a point load like that is not a real life scenario. i'll be sticking with the 1/2". i'll be adding some cuts to the aluminum angle bracket to "weaken" it a bit.

Very nice job! Would be nice to have a drawing and dimension of that bracket! Im looking to make a splitter here soon. You have access to the drawings or CAD files?

How does that blade not catch fire? Dump is blowing right on it. Takes only 400f to burn. Nice diy though op, also like the bumper block off. Pics of the bumper?
