If they build it, Karl will come.
My new R&T came today, and right there on the cover is the future Shultzmobile.
I promise he'll buy one if it goes into production (assuming gas isn't $5 a gallon by then, Captain Frugal couldn't deal with that).
425hp and 490lbft of goodness.
Scott, who'd probably get one too. Black.

so much meaner and nastier looking than the retro-stang!
i'll take mine in off-white, please (can you say "Vanishing Point"?).
damn, that car looks good. shave off about 500-700 useless pounds and it would even be better!

Re: If they build it, Karl will come. (SJR)
Yeah, the more I look at it the more I don't care that its a Dodge.
At around $30 to $35K I'd be all up in that shizzy, even with the slushbox (but I'd prefer a manual 6 thank you).
Wait 'til Karl sees this thread. He's going to have to disinfect his keyboard.

I was checking out the R/T site, and it looks like I spy three pedals in front of the driver. hmmm.... when are the girls moving out again? That car may be cheap by then.

Am I the only person who's sick of the American car companies whoring out their old names and styling in order to sell cars again and save their asses? I just think it takes away from the original cars that were once good and pure. I don't know, I just feel like they're messing with something sacred when they do this.
In this exact case (and like usual), I'll take the original, please!

Yes, you are.
In honesty, if I can have 425hp with similar styling to the original Challenger but no rust and 400 man hours of restoration or a $300000 price tag (have you seen the good challengers on Barrett Jackson?), yes... I am interested.
I disliked the last 20 years of Mustangs. They didn't look like mustangs.
The new one looks like a Mustang.
Now... A Challenger that looks like a Challenger... For $35K... Yes please.

Re: If they build it, Karl will come. (Catch 22)
Has anyone seen a SRT/8 in person? Nice looking car and pretty damn good performance. I don't mind the retro look as long as performance follows. GM has been slow to follow with the SSR and that other forgettable retro car they recently released. I prefer these to the Aztec/Avalanche abortions.
Oh, I would like the Challenger in black!

Don't do it Scott! All that power will erode your hard won ITC driver skillz. You'll become a lazy apex missing late on the thottle b'doofus.
Scott, who don't like no fake or original pony cars...got me a REAL Type-R!

I agree, but only when they don't back up the name with good (or appropriate) product. There's a new Ford Fairlane coming out, it's a minivan. 300M as a shortened Dodge Stratus? Ridiculous. A bad-*** looking muscle car using the Challenger name? All right by me.

That *is* fairly bad ***. Needs a big 01 on the side.

Captain Frugal?
Me?
I don't think so. Remember which section of the grocery store I buy my deli meat in?

Re:
GM needs to do this with the (used to be) Camaro. I saw a concept of a "modern sixties look" Camaro a while back. I thought...If they built that, it would require me to go further in debt! Seriously, they would sell them like Hardees thick burgers...

Agreed. The only company that hasn't brought there muscle car plate back from the dead was Ford. That is because they kept up with there market and have sold plenty to keep it alive.
Ford > Chevy > Dodge

If today were 1979, I'd have only been having sex for three years, I wouldn't have gotten drunk yet, I'd still be listening to Elvis Costello, and I'd think this thing was totally bitchin'.
Okay - so one out of four isn't bad for almost 30 years later...
