Re: Honda Day Auto-X Classes and Rules 8/12 (FrankieFive)
What about the rules for the Super Challenge?
I know last year, there was quite a bit of controversy and gnashing of teeth over a later-than-last-second change in tire rules. In previous years, DOT R-compounds had been permited for the Super Challenge. But last year, the event organizers basically decided to change the rules at the event, and kind of made up rules about tires as they went along. First they said "no slicks", pointing at a set of DOT legal Kumho V710s. And almost all the Super Challenge drivers were on autoX compound R tires. So the drivers said, "Well these are not 'slicks'. They are DOT approved R-compounds." And the event organizers said, "Nope. They are slicks. There is no tread on them. They are not allowed."
So last year for the Super Challenge, if you happened to have a set of full tread R compound Victoracers or RA1s, you could have run on those. But the drivers who happened to have v710s or A/R3S05s were told they could not use them, which sent a couple Super Challenge drivers home and others scrambling to borrow sets of wheels and tires that fit the improvised rules.

For the tires question, I know I read on one of the other HondaDay threads that only BFG tires are allowed. I didn't see any clarification of that afterwards, so take that for what it's worth. Seems like a pretty goddamn retarded rule to me if it's true.

LOL! If that's true about the BFG tires being required for Super Challange, they are going to have like 1 competitor - if that.
