I just wanted to thank everyone that helped Jeremy and I out with the endro. I had a blast and learned a few things about the car. Having Jeremy run the second part and hearing Benny on the radio sure helped my nerves, this being my first race. I hope to look through the car before Willow and if I have the cash, I am hoping to run the sprint to get more seat time and set data on the car for the June endro.

alright...soo im a new member, on my 15 day "cant start threads".
so i thought maybe this would be the best place to ask: im in NC and i want to work my way into he honda challenge.

please be aware im not just some dude who sees these pictures and thinks its cool, ive been looking for about a year now into this. my main question is what kind of cost am i looking at, to start out in H5 maybe at first. also, some of the noob mistakes i might be able to avoid whilst im getting into this.

there is much more i want to know, but i dont want to overload the board with spam

thanks for reading, i look forward to your knowledge

Start withe H4 not H5 would be a mistake.
with an h4 you can convert it to H2 in the future.

Yes like benny said convert. A new H2 Yellow F1 Civic will cost you 48K and counting.

Damn that sucks about the motor Jeff. Glad your back though! Forum politics is more of an art than a science it seems.

Hi guys, I just happen to be surfing online and ran across this thread. I can't believe what I've been missing out on Honda-Tech. I am happy to find that every fellow racer is here, so I am here to stay. I'll be posting new threads in the future once my 15 days trial expires. I like to thank you guys for the nice pictures. I am just wondering if anyone else would have more nice pictures from Buttonwillow on April 25, 26.

Hi John, it's nice to see you here. I had a blast racing with you at Buttonwillow. Unfortunately, my tires overheated. But I learned alot about tire physics on the last race which also translate what happened the last time at California Speedway when my tires were overheating rather quickly. So watch out on your rear view mirrors fellow racers hehe.

Yeah, John Howard, you, and I had a nice battle for quite a few laps going for second place. Unfortunately, I cooked a motor during the last three laps or so on Sunday where I was lucky to finish third. My oil temp was pegged at over 280 degree F (my gauge only goes to 280 F, so I really don't know how much higher it actually went). The motor tightened up and probably, from my experience, would have grenaded in the next lap or so from a spun rod bearing. Hopefully, most of the parts will be salvageable save for maybe the crank.

Fortunately, I have a couple of other spare motors including a race motor that I will build up for the next race. So, I will have a freshened motor for next round at WSIR.

I hope everything works out nicely on your motor John. If you do have a freshened motor, you the guy to watch out for on the next race

It seems like you are picking up speed alot faster then when I started my rookie races. I am pretty sure you will be the guy to look out for in H1 in a very near future. Keep up the good driving Justin
