First enduro with the CRX!
We decided early in this season to not focus on the Socal HC Championship, but instead, just focus on doing specific races we wanted to do this year.
One of those such races was the 3 hour enduro at Buttonwillow Raceway on April 26th. It was part of the WERC run by NASA.
We put together a team for the pit stop of people that were at the track that day, and I ran the enduro "Iron Man Style" which means I did the 3 hours myself.
We started the race with the mind that we would run a conservative pace and not go for all out lap times because that's just not the way you start a 3 hour endurance race.
We continued with our pace and got to the front of the E2 field rather quickly.
When we came in for our first stop, we had a small fuel spill, and that cost us a penalty which we ended up having to come in to serve roughly 5 laps later. During that time, we decided to fix the clutch cable that was loosening up a bit each and every lap. When we popped the hood to fix that, we noticed the catch can had already filled up, so we emptied it and replaced it along with adding a qt of oil back into the engine.
All together, this cost us roughly 7 minutes or so in the pits which equated to roughly 2.5 laps!
We got back out there and decided that we would go a bit quicker without hurting the car to see if we could catch the leader.
We ended up having to do a splash and go for fuel toward the end, but we had been able to climb back to 2nd place before the checkered flag came out to end the race!
It was an awesome effort for the first enduro event we decided to enter and 2nd place was nothing to look down on! If not for the fuel penalty and the small fixes, we would of ended up first by about 1 lap over the rest of the E2 field.
Here's a couple pictures from the evening!
Leading the E2 field toward the beginning!
Awesome night shot!
A fair bit of heat in those rotors don't ya think?
Take care!
Special thanks to our sponsors in my sig!

Dude I had so much fun watching!! Great job.
I tried to get some snaps of the front rotors glowing going into the sunset turn but they didnt come out. What was the smoke i saw from towards the end?

Re: (JW racing)
Thanks all!
Justin, I'm not 100% sure yet. Need to tear apart the car and find out for sure.
Some of the smoke was from the catch can over-flowing. I don't think it was all from that though.
I need to find out what went wrong toward the end of the race.
Still managed to bring it home, so, it was all good!
The last 10 minutes were simply scary though driving with no middle lights and just the outside lights. 1 had moved during the race and was pointing at the sky, so I really only had 1 good light pointed toward the right hand side of the track.
Made it REALLY scary to exit talladega and try to guess when to turn in for the kink before magic mountain!
Still a really fun race though...

Excellent post JT. Brief and eloquent at the same time.
You should grace us with your wit more often.

You'll see a big mix of everything!
From Toyo RA1's (which is what I was running) to Hoosier, Hankook, and Nitto!
