That's the pin for your speed signal, not "sigant". You could splice in your VSS on your transmission.

Has anyone check the stock signal on the mr2? it might not use the same type of signal. I would think you would need an oscilloscope to check

Good question. I wasn't sure either at first so I used an aftermarket fluid that complied with both Honda and Toyota racks and everything works fine. However, I was thinking about trying Toyota power steering fluid specifically made for EHPS.

Have you buy separatly a harness with fuse 7.5 integrated.

I have both pumps sitting here now, with the 95 pump i was going to use the honda swirl pot that had 3 fittings on it since my 87 Integra rack has 2 return outlets, one that goes to the cooler and one straight to the swirl pot (reservoir). So now that I have the 05 MR pump I only have one inlet to the reservior, so i'm not sure how to route the 2 return lines. Any suggestions?

Awesome. Having the all-in-one computer with the pump is the key thing that makes this the way to go. Having an electric pump pumping full on isn't better than having a mechanical pump--having one that operates based on load is exactly what we need.

Personally I'd like to be able to put a potentiometer or something on the VSS input so that can manually adjust the amount of 'boost'.

Is the PS cooler needed or just something to add piece of mind? I'm planning on doing this soon to my VW.

The cooler is definitely needed. You need to keep the fluid cool because the fluid is what cools the pump. So the fluid doesn't really need it, but the pump does! I've been running a pump with my ehps setup (using older style mr2 pump) for nearly 2yrs now.

I wrote this write-up such that there would be no need for a "kit". However, I believe KarCepts and SpecialProjects both offer a kit for the older MR2 p/s pump.

I am putting this setup in my Cobra replica track car right now. I have found a guy that has engineered and produces a P/S pump controller (mentioned in post 18 of this thread) that can very the % of P/S assist based off a potentiometer or wheel speed (wheel spd mode is its default mode). It is just a circuit board, you have to find a project box to put it in (Radio Shack) and wire 12v ign, grd, VSS from ABS reluctor wheel and signal out to pin 2 of the MR2 pumps middle connector in the picture posted above.

In normal mode the circuit board has 11 speed tables (0-10). The controller provides 100% assist at table 0 and goes down from there. It also has a "wiper" mode the bases assist off of a user supplied potentiometer (Radio Shack again). He will also provide a detailed PDF that explains it operation. The beauty of the controller is that every table, and the speed step between tables is configurable by the user. I will try to post the PDF here.

In the PDF he lists a source for the connectors to the pump.

Olathe Toyota also has pig tail wires with the pins and rubber weather proofing install that just slide into the connector for a factory looking install.

Additionally, just FYI he has tested the MR2 pump pressure while turning the wheel lock to lock. With the pump dead headed on the locks he only had 750 psi of hydraulic pressure.

rethought out what i wanted to say. let's try this again:

after tapping into the VSS what needs to happen in order to adjust the pressure? is there a way i can make the PS fade out after 35mph with some sort of adjustment/controller? can i adjust the ratio by running different resistors/fuses? i'm not the best when it comes to electrical **** so any help is appreciated. thanks!
