Default Custom ear molds available - any interest?

A long while back I posted asking if folks would be interested in custom-fit ear molds, since Mrs. Splat was finishing her masters in audiology at the time. Well, skool's been done for a while, and Bef has also attained her hearing aid dealer's license for North Carolina, which means she can fit and sell custom ear molds.

So now if y'all are interested, she can sell you a pair of custom molds. The fitting process takes about ten or fifteen minutes, during which Bef will use a two-part silicone putty to take an impression of your ear. Those get sent off to be used to create the molds (plugs) themselves.

The plugs come in either flesh-tone (several shades available) or your choice of color, and are attached by a cord embedded in the molds.

Flesh tone molds would be $80 shipped, and color molds would be $5 extra.

Unfortunately, Bef's license is for North Carolina only, so she has to take the impressions somewhere in the state. If you're interested, just contact me through IM or my email on here.

Thanks

Mine seem to be a bit under foam plugs. I wouldn't shoot at an indoor range with them, but I would outside.

I wore them in Bbasso's ITR at Expo 5, and was very comfortable.

Mine fit quite well and worked like a charm at the Ministry and Clutch concerts a while back.

I have not had them inside of a 'race' car on track... but think they would so just as well there.

<sidenote>
If you think the Shure 5CE headphones are the snizzle, check out the Ultimate Ears UE series. http://www.ultimateears.com/cu....html $$$$$

I didn't realize custom fit ear pieces were as common, etc.

Bef's molds would be just ear plugs - I don't think the company she goes through can embed the electronics like that. Then again, they do provide hearing aid molds, so maybe they can. I'll have to talk to her about it.

I am not sure that it would be worth her while to worry about doing this. With as many different plug types as are out there and the relative expense of the hardware, it would probably just be much easier for people to either go to their radio supplier or have the do it yourself kits sent in to have the electronics put it.

As for the original option, it sounds like a great idea and a necessary one. I got into using ear plugs probably about 5 or 6 years after I really should have, and already have noticably less hearing in my left ear than in my right.

I'm 28. Deafness is bad, and I hope I caught it in time to have stopped the damage.

Correct. It's an insurance/license thing. She'd have to satisfy the requirements for state licensure in other locations, which basically means anything from a test, to a test plus x years of supervised practice depending on the state's requirements

When is the 13hr? We're about an hour and a half away from VIR, so we can definitely try to make arrangements if there's interest.

I will check to see if any of the other drivers on our team (2 cars, 6 drivers) are interested. if so it would be worthwhile.
