CRX Road Racing Suspension Setups
Wondering if anyone would be willing to share the suspension setups that they have run successfully for road racing with a CRX (2nd Gen).
I'm mainly looking for what sort of dampening setups people are using, if revalved Koni's are the way to go, or is there a better setup?
Also looking for spring rates that people are using, front and rear as well as the sway bars with those setups.
We're redoing the suspension on our CRX and are trying to get some baseline setups that we can work from.

Re: CRX Road Racing Suspension Setups (rotten)
Tons of info already on the board if you go looking for it.
My setup is Konis, 500/650, ST rear sway, no front sway, 14x7 panasports. I'll be bumping the rears to 700 soon.

Re: CRX Road Racing Suspension Setups (travis)
I've been searching around but there isn't all that much info that I could find specific to the shorter wheelbase of the CRX... a lot more information is specific to Autox cars as well, which while helpful in some respects, many of those cars are still street driven so are a compromise of one sort or another that I don't want to make.
Thanks for the information... Are you using revalved Konis with those spring rates?

Those are OTS Konis, but as I understand it they will perform much better when revalved even at the same spring rate. I'll get around to it one of these days.

Try a search for "ITA CRX" on text bodies both archived and recent and you will get over 1000 hits.
I have raced these cars since they were allowed into ITA in 1994 and have advised literally countless folks on prepping and driving CRXs through my work with Koni. If you want to talk, I'd be happy to if you call me at work at 859-586-4100 ext 316.
There is a range of settings that folks will use but here is a good start point:
Front Springs 400-500
Rear Springs 600-700
No or very little front bar
Stock to larger rear bar, adjustable if possible
-2.0 to -3.0 degree negative camber all around
1/16th to 1/8th inch front total toe out
Zero rear toe
Adjustable shocks, OTS valving OK for some but race valved usually preferred and I recommend Koni of course
Get a limited slip as soon as you can, a 4.7ish final drive is usually a very good idea depending on some tracks
14x6s if you have to, 14x7s if you can

I was going to give you call about having the Koni's revalved anyway. I'll give a call on monday we can talk about prices, turnarounds and recommendations.

It is a SPU/GTU car, so we have a bit different setup then most. Mainly in the wheel/tire sizes. We're running a 13x8 wheels front, 13x9 rears with Goodyear G19 specials. Currently have a Quaife and the FD is 4.4, but with the diameter of the tires we get the shorter overall gearing then most CRXes (those 14 Hoosiers are almost 24" in diameter, we're a shade over 21")
For springs we were thinking of running roughly 600 front 700 rear, glad that what we were thinking is in line with what others are running. Running no front sway bar, stock rear, similar alignment settings.
I may try running the OTS Koni's and revalve them after we see how they do, will talk to you about it this week to find out which way we'll go.

I do, by necessity...not choice. I wish I could find someone local who could do them for me without a production.
