as I have read the rules, the diagnol needs to be one piece, so it would require cutting out the harness bar in this pic to install a diagnol, then replacing it. Check out the roll cage section of http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/ccr.pdf
and there is the little problem of no front half of the cage
is this to race?

What's the tubing size?
The Material?
The wall thickness?
Whats the weight of the car its goiing into?
Weld or bolt in?
Going to race or high performance driving?
As it sits it will not pass ANY RACING organization tech in the free world. With minor work it may pass HP driving tech.

What in the world car is this thing going into? The pictured car looks like no Honda I've ever seen...maybe a Geo Storm with that large-ish wraparound hatch?

No.
There's no diagonal between your head and the passenger side floor. The thing doesn't even GO to the floor...it sits on some sort of crossmember. The angle between the diagonals back to the cargo area and the main hoop looks shallow to me.
It does however look safe for street use, but also useless. It's not doing anything a rear strut tower brace can't do, and even those are of questionable usefulness. Nowif your head is close to the main hoop, then I retract that statement...it's no good at all for street use if this is the case.
I hate to say it, but I hope you haven't already bought it. If you haven't, don't. If you have...well...

the picture is of a second generation rx-7. it definately doesn't look like a very good cage design to me, you need to traingulate it to add rigidity

Given that I'm picking up a 2nd gen RX7 soon (I think), does anyone have any recommendations for where the rear arms should go? The rear shock/suspension area I'm used to putting them to looks all funky and difficult to utilize.
Hmm...same with the feet of the main hoop, actually. Right in front of that rear seat thing, through the floor?
