which brake fluid for HPDE

Best brake fluid I've ever used:

Andie @ Cobalt can give you details on it. Motul gives you a soft pedal.

Motul has never caused me to have a 'soft' pedal. Going on 2+ years with the stuff.

It's soft compared to any other fluid. It's consistent in that it doesn't boil, but the pedal just feels crappy.
Then there's the time when there was no brake fluid in Steve's shop other than a few bottles of Motul, so he used that for the clutch on one of his drag race cars w/ a Tilton setup. It couldn't even disengage the clutch. They got some cheapy fluid, and it worked fine after that.

Ive driven RJs car a few times, and I dont recall the pedal being soft. In fact, I remember it being firmer than my miata w/ Super Blew

I have been using this stuff for about 7-8 years now. The only time I open the braking system is for a fluid change every 18 months (service interval recomended on the bottle), or if I do work on other parts of the braking system.
I NEVER need to bleed my brakes. They NEVER boil the fluid. Period.

sounds to me like the system was not completely bled.......and when they changed the fluid over to the cheap crap it finished the bleeding process and the pedal went to normal after that.

Not the case. System was fully bled. Have you ever tried a full tilton race clutch setup? The clutch pedal travels maybe 2 inches.

Neosyn. is the best I have used, but that was back when I had stock brakes.
I just use superblue/gold because its easy to get local (dad works across from OG).
I think bleeding brakes is BS, I do it once a year. Your soft pedal will come from heat cycled pads..

heh, sounds about right for a honda. My pedal always feels crappy in the civic, regardless of fluid, pad, rotor, lines, master cylinder, what-have-you. I do love the feel of the brake pedal in my Ram, though.

yes I have......I have installed and used Tilton 4" 4 disc clutches in a few race cars. The clutch works absolutely fine with just about any fluid that you throw at it as long as it it bled properly. I have found that Super Blue works great for race applications with clutches. The fluid does not get heated enough to boil so any quality fluid will work fine for a solid pedal.

Re: which brake fluid for HPDE (JoelG)
Using SRF in a street car is an absolute waste of money. If you have money to burn, go for it, otherwise save it and put the money towards pads.
Ford HD is a great fluid, not just for the money, we have used it in our GT1 racecars with no issues. We just recently switched to SRF, I noticed no difference at all, either in sprints or one hour races on a point and shoot track in a high HP car.

Re: which brake fluid for HPDE (pmachan)
SRF is mostly for use in heavy braking cars that are doing long race stints. SRF is suited for cars that cycle their brakes hundreds of times during a race. I have actually seen Rolex Cup carg wear through some SRF but only in some RARE occasions (like the 24 hours of Daytona)
