Default best race motor options.

Hey guys. I drive a 99 civic on an asphalt oval 1/3 mile track. Currently I am smoking any car out there with my fully built b16 and trans. But the one car that competes good is the Ford escort zx2 with the 2.0 dohc. I race in a fully modified divison. We van do anything as long as parts are honda to honda.

What's the best thing I can do to get more power and still have the reliability of the b16. Let me give you a run down on my setup. I run a ls trans with swapped m factory gears. And 205/50/15 tires.

Motor: b16a (head) skunk 2 lma, srpings, retainers, and pro 3 cams , port and polish exhaust and intake sides. Stock intake b18 throttle body. Cheap header.
(Block) Acl bearin, manley h beam rods, cp Carillo forged pistons.
Tuned on hondata s300 179hp 121ftq at 9200 rpm.
(Trans) stock 1,2nd 3rd (1.695) 4th (1.385) 5th (1.21) 4.4 final drive

While racing 2nd gear car makes a 17.3 sec lap and hits 9100 rpm. In third I'm about 7500 rpm.

What can I do to get more power but be able to run good rpms and not worry about it blowing up. Should I get the block sleeved to 85mm? But that only makes it a 1.78L I want like a 2.0 but with the stroke ratio of the b16. Anyone have any ideas I want like 240hp when all said and done.

You are about maxed out aside from maybe a ITR valve train, oversized pistons.
Unless you want go boosted?
Question is does your racing sanctioning body allow for boosted engines?

Maybe look into a B20, or K20-24 with 200hp specs.
Tough one to call with out knowing the specific class rules.
Honda to Honda is pretty wide, and you have options but 240 is pushing it with out boosting.

Must be n/a I know some places that can build a b20 vtec to 290hp. King Motorsports had one that hit 287hp on 110 octane. Would a b20 bottom end with my b16 head be safe to run. I'm talking more the b20 bottom are they reliable when built. I race every Friday for 18 weeks and right now the car never comes below 5000 rpm when on the track. So it needs to be able to handle getting pounded.

I wouldn't be revving that high in a B20 that is for sure for a long period of time. At the track my buddy doesn't pass 7500 but he is making 214whp and 154wtq.

I would probably go k20 as you will be able to make the most power and it will be reliable.

K24A2 from an 06-08 TSX. Mill the head for some compression, a good intake & exhaust manifold, tuning, you'll be getting close. 220whp examples of unopened K24A2's are aplenty. Probably the best bang for your buck N/A in my opinion.

The 'pre 06 K24A2 has smaller intake and exhaust valves fyi
