Default Behavior expected from DOT slick tires?

I have heard slick tires can really bite you in the butt if you're not careful. I've never driven on slick tires, so I'd like to know what I should expect before I go screamin around my local autox course on a type of tire I haven't experienced yet. Thanks guys

Turn in should be much sharper. They'll stick really good until they don't anymore, and you won't get a lot of noise like you do from standard tires to warn you. Put em on and go wild!

I think it has more to do with the carcass. From what I hear, a Hankook Z214 doesn't have much slip angle, so it's sharper at the limit. Whereas a Hoosier R6 has a lot of slip angle and will give and give and give until it finally goes. They're a lot harder to push over the edge in a manner that'll throw you way off course. Either way, a slick should be more forgiving in the sense that with the added grip, for instance, you brake too late and understeer you'll skid 10ft before slowing down enough to grab rather than 30ft on an all-season. At least, this is my speculation. I've never driven on R-comps, but going from a 400 tread wear all season last year to a 200 tread wear extreme performance summer tire, the difference is similar to what I've described.
